Will a AC transformer wok with these lights?

All are AC input and DC out put in low voltage transformers should work

Will these survive a cold Midwest winter?

I can't answer that question. I installed my set this past spring, so i haven't experienced a winter with these. However these lights are great!!!...nice and bright, sturdy exterior covering, and easy to install.
