What is Vitamin K used for?

Vitamin K2 helps direct calcium into bones and teeth, where it should be, and away from soft tissue. Lack of K2 contributes to atherosclerosis due to calcification of blood vessels, as well as bone porosity -- that is, without sufficient K2, calcium is more likely to be deposited in blood vessel walls instead of bones. Vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin, so it should be taken with fat, and ideally should be accompanied by its fellow fat-soluble vitamins D, A, and E. Natural sources of K2 include good cheese, grass-fed butter and yogurt, as well as the famously stanky fermented soybean dish natto - an acquired taste, but the richest known dietary source of K2. Some K2 may also be manufacturers on the gut by good bacteria, but it's tough to rely on that even if you have an impeccably fiber-rich diet, and is probably an insignificant source if you eat a lot of prepackaged / prepared foods.

Good question! They are not the same. Both are important micronutrients in a diet, but potassium is a mineral not a vitamin.

What is vitamin k used for

it is used for with Vitamin D3. Why? Because if you don't have enough K2 with D3...calcium from bones can start to migrate into heart arteries which can block them along with any other debris already there like fat or cholesterol.
