When others fail, go with Startech
Best HDMI to VGA converters. I have tried many other budget brands and they all failed. The Startech converters always work. Easy to install and there are no synching issues found with other budget brands.

Pretty good
small, easy to use, inexpensive (right now at least). Seemingly very low latency, (around 1-2ms). No weird effects or issues so far. edit, still works great, lag seems to be about 1ms or less (very good) still works great. would recommend for someone who owns a pc crt

Display port solved my problem
I have a Dell 4600M, which is a high end laptop. There is a flaw with this machine. The VGA port does not seem to be compatible with most projectors. I work at a large company and everyone with this laptop has the same problem. I've tried changing drivers and spent a lot of time on the phone with Dell to no avail. I decided to try projecting from the DisplayPort rather than VGA port via this StarTech adapter. It has worked great for me. I've used it on 6 different projectors and it has worked on all of them. The only negative I see is that the product is advertised to handle up to 1920x1200 resolution. I'm only given an option to display at max of 1280x1024 when I link to a projector. I'm not sure if it's a limitation of the cable, projector or laptop. But the 1280x1024 is sufficient and gives a nice clear image on the projector. So overall, I'm pleased with this product.

Solid adapter after frustrating local search
After striking out at local stores like Best Buy and Staples—where staff didn’t even know what I was asking for—I ordered this StarTech adapter based on their solid reputation. I needed to connect a VGA monitor to a new desktop with only DisplayPort, and this worked perfectly right out of the box. The build quality is excellent, the connection is stable, and the cable feels sturdy. Very happy with the result.

Does as advertised, though a little high for price.
This Female VGA to Male DisplayPort adaptor functions as it should. It displays correctly, lists the proper monitor information, & produces what appears to be an accurate viewing experience. It is however a bit high in price.

Extremely disappointed, shoddy manufacture
This adapter is a piece of crap, and so was the service I received from Citi. Let me enumerate the shortcomings. 1. The adapter stopped working less than 2 months after I started using it. I purchased it to use a VGA monitor with my laptop dock that only had DisplayPort and wasn't doing anything out of the norm with it. The item I received looks nothing like the one in the item picture on Amazon. 2. Upon attempting to return it to StarTech.com, they sent it back to me saying it's not a StarTech product, despite the item description from CiTi. 3. After 3 weeks of no response from the seller, they finally responded to my email, in which CiTi denied it was their responsibility to replace the obviously defective item, but said I could pay to ship it from NC to California on my dime "for testing". No apology or offer for a refund was extended to me. 4. I caved and paid to ship the adapter to CiTi. Before I sent it I popped open the plastic casing to look for any obvious popped transistors or lose solder joints. I snapped some pictures of the shoddy manufacturing. As you can easily see the joints are extremely loose and the entire board is smeared with hot glue. No wonder it stopped working. See the pics here: [...] 5. A month went by and I haven't heard one word from CiTi, despite numerous emails to "Jay" (no last name given) at CiTi, I've given up. I wasted $25 on the adapter and another $12 on the shipping. Their shipping address is 1308 John Reed Ct., City of Industry, CA 91745 which seems to be the location of tons of vendors who sell cheapo Chinese electronics. Buyer beware. I ordered the adapter directly from StarTech.com and their product seems to be much better so far. The picture is better and the casing is more durable.

Molto consigliato
