Roald Dahl Collection - 15 Paperback Book Boxed Set

I bought this because it was cheaper than buying less amount of hard backs separately and then I got more books out of the deal so bonus. The price actually came out to being cheaper than buying a paperback of each book either, so it was a no-brainer. Beautiful dust jackets to protect the hardbacks, and a great collector's item if you are like me and collecting books from your childhood and will stand up to time so I can give them to my children when they move on to chapter books.

I love Roald Dahl, his books were my favorite when I was a kid. His books speak to kids and adults of all ages, and the imagination his books inspire in children is unparalleled. I was so excited to buy this box set for my 8 year old son who is in second grade. He is a huge reader, but was having a hard time connecting to books that were on a more mature level than Captain Underpants, Stink, etc. I knew he would love these and I am so happy to say I was right! These books are timeless. He devours them, laughs out loud, asks insightful questions about the characters and subtext. This is the best kind of book for a growing child, imaginative, exciting, fun, wacky, sweet, with a clear moral message that isn't preachy or creepy. Have started to reread all of these books so that I can discuss them with my son, and we are having the best time. This is one of the best decisions I ever made in terms of buying reading material for my son. He likes having them all together in the box, they look great as well. Yay!

My 6 yr old granddaughter was thrilled when these came. It was in perfect condition and she was so happy to have 2 copies of BFG which I'm reading to her. Now she has one to read to her little sister. "I just know she'll laugh when she hears the language." The only struggle was to decide what to read first. She even packed two books for me to take on vacation. I couldn't be happier!!!

My 9yo nephew needs to read out loud for 20 minutes every day for homework. For a few weeks he was reading those Dogman books to me. I couldn’t stand them. I knew I needed to find something else. I found this book set after hours of searching. They came quicker than expected, perfect quality. Story time has become much more pleasant and he absolutely adores the books. We’ve had this set for almost three months and we still have plenty of books to read. I’m excited for my niece to get a bit older, so I can read them with her as well.

I bought these for my then eight year old daughter. Part of the appeal was that she knew some of the titles from movies but I was also worried that having seen the movies, she might not be interested in the books. I was a little caught off guard by the size of the type as we had been transitioning from books more like the Dr Seuss series ie. larger type, fewer words, and lots of color pictures. She actually didn't touch them for a couple months and then one day I noticed that she had picked up the one I had started reading to her and had almost finished it. She immediately started reading another one and at times was reading two books at once. She really enjoyed the whimsical nature of most of Roald Dahl's books.

We got two of this set - one for our four year old, and one as a gift for a family of children ranging from 2-10 (who were delighted to receive it). It has all of the greatest hits of Roald Dahl, the greatest children's book author ever in my humble and correct opinion, plus all the original Quentin Blake illustrations that are so delightful, humorous, and necessary to full enjoyment of Dahl. Our 4 year old and I both enjoy listening to dad read these classic, hilarious, imaginative stories. The paperback covers are really nice, pretty colors, fit nicely in their box, and make it easy to bring the books around the house or to grandma's house for sleepovers. Highly recommend this!!!

The actual books we received were in good condition but we only received 13 out of the 15 books from the box set. We did receive another book from a different author in order to make up the difference (or fill the space the box... ) and it turn out to be great, but it’s not what we ordered. Also the box has some significant scuffing, if that matters to you. However, my kids are still really excited to start reading through this amazing collection of books (and I’m excited to share all of these stories from my childhood with them). * I have amended my initial rating from 3 to 4 stars as the vendor got back to me quickly and offered me a concession refund, as I didn’t receive all the books in the set.

I am a teacher. We are doing a unit on Roald Dahl books in my classroom. I love this book set. My husband (also a teacher) and I read these books out loud to our own two children, and we had the best time together reading these books. We laughed so hard and bonded as a family. We now share this beautiful collective memory of laughing our way through this marvelous children's literature. There are also quite a few movies based on some of the books. In the classroom and at home I pair the books with the corresponding movie. These books make learning fun! Unplug the video games and dip your toes in one of these books!

I have always loved Roald Dahl’s books and The Witches was the book that started my love affair of reading. I have many copies of these books but not all in the hardback format. This collection features the best of Roalds books and they are just stunning. I absolutely loved this collection and highly recommend anyone considering buying this.

She loves the whole stories of Roald Dahl. Nice package of the whole series.
