Brilliant smart switch even a little bit expensive!
I am a crazy lover of tropical fish and tried to find a smart home equipment which can help me feed my fish better. This new product named of ubibot SP1 allow me to connect an external probe to monitor my tank’s temperature. When temp drop below 65F, the switch will turn on my heating rod. It also can help me step a daily loop of circulation pump. Easy setup and use. Clear App instruction. If the price of this product can be less than 50 bucks, I will have a few more for my tanks.

App is not easy to use, price too high
I got this "UBiBot SP1 Smart Plug" to try. As a smart plug, this UBiBot's biggest selling point is the temperature sensing functionality.Let me start with the upsetting part first.- The app is not intuitive to set up. I spent a half day and finally figured out I need to set the customized field so that the plug can read it.- Price is too expensive. It is more expensive than buying smart plug + smart temperature sensor altogether. On the positive side, the app does work with google assistant and amazon alexa.I planned to use it with my AC such that I can control the room temperature. It doesn't work well for my use case -- if I leave home and turns off the AC, the triggering rules will still be active, thus the plug will still turn it on when the temperature is high. I want the AC to stay off when no one is off.Having said that, if your use case requires temperature monitoring 24X7, this sensor might be workable for you. However, getting a smart temperature sensor and plug will be a more affordable way to go. Thus, I'm not recommending this product at this time, unless you can get a deep discount. Thanks for reading this review and I hope you find it helpful.

Switch doesn't work 50% of the time
I bought that to control the temperature in my chicken coop. The switch doesn't turn on 50% of the time and for many hours and the temperature goes really low. I contacted the support many times and I decided to trash it in the end. This device doesn't work locally and everything is in the cloud. It's so flaky that even in continuous mode (sending the on or off command every 15 minutes for many hours), the switch doesn't end up in the proper state. The nice part is that it collects so many statistics that the support cannot argue with me that it's not working. I lost confidence in the brand after many exchanges with the support group when they blame it on my "poor" Wi-Fi signal. But the device can send statistics to the cloud every 15 minutes without ever missing a window. I have two Wi-Fi cameras 4 feet away that work perfectly fine. The high-end access point is 40 feet away in direct line of sight.Don't buy that to heat your animals.

Very smart plug - best for techy people or if you need real temp/aux data
The app works decently well (ubibot app), as well there is a web interface that has even more options. This smart plug can give you voltage, amps (+watts), usage time, wifi strength and on/off status. Further more if these need to be tweaked for some reason you can do that in the web interface. The plug itself supports custom fields which can be items like temp × usage time. It also supports rs485 protocol, so if you have a sensor running that you can calculate it properly. The kit comes with a temperature probe which adds real temperature to it. To me this is the only reason a consumer would want this I got it for the chicken coop to increase temperature when needed. (Lots of apps will use weather data)As far as I can tell a lot of your data is stored on their servers and there are limits (which I haven't even come close to approaching). Update intervals for volts, amps, temp, etc, are customizable, but only go down as far as 1 minute in most cases.(as far as I could tell)I believe (although it is nothing I am interested in), you can open your data up to the public. Overall it is very feature rich, it uses a proprietary app and most people won't use the features. The offline alert worked better than others I've used in the past (likely because the data is on their servers?)The barcode sticker on the back identifies your unit. I think this sticker is very important and you won't want it to get damaged (might be worth writing it down depending on it's environment). It is a very large plug (as pictured), even if you use the bottom outlet it still basically blocks the top. Side by side outlets may be blocked too.

Can't recommend this unpolished and unfinished product
Note - this review applies to the model that includes the temperature probe. The model without the probe is only $7 less (at the time of review), but I would still be hard pressed to recommend that model. At $79, the probeless model is still way overpriced as a "connected Kill-A-Watt" alternative with remote on/off capability, especially when either of its two expansion ports may not be usable. The Good Parts+ Combination of a smart switch, Kill-A-Watt power meter and temperature sensor+ The power monitoring is very good, better than my Kill-A-Watt meter+ Claims to works with Alexa and IFTTT (did not test, this is not my use case)+ Has some rules capabilities for setting routines+ Supports iOS, Android, PCHit or Misso While this is a free tier cloud product, there is a threshold for functionality where you will need to pay for a subscriptiono Setup (outside of the temperature sensor) was relatively painlesso Requires registrationo A little pricey for what you're getting, based on the three functions providedo Is not quite a consumer product. It appears to be an industrial product, but even then, it's not something that I consider easy to configure compared other products I've usedo Chunky unito Networked product, so if you have time and energy, you can probably reverse engineer this product's protocol to make it work better (and not require the cloud service), but frankly, you should spend your hard earned time and money on another product with a better ecosystem. The Bad Parts- The software is not self explanatory, especially when trying to get the temperature sensor to work. As with other reviewers, I simply couldn't get it to work in a reasonable amount of time. I tried going to the Misc tab and setting Field 9 to DS18B20 Temperature and nothing would show up. If the temperature probe is a reason why you are considering this product, then look elsewhere, especially if you value your time.- Unless you put it on an extension cord, blocks power outlets- Mobile app is pretty bad. Password field is not masked in the registration form.- Relatively unknown company that isn't transparent about the location of the data, and unproven in terms of security. I shouldn't have to say this, but it's not wise to reuse a password from another service for this account- Phones home with your data, since it's part of a cloud service

Not intended for your average smart home consumer, provides a lot of data
The UbiBot SP1 Smart Plug appears to be targeted at the smart home consumer market, but the app and ecosystem are not. There other products are more for commercial and scientific uses and this really shows when you try to setup and use the SP1. Firstly, the SP1 is much bulkier than other consumer based smart plugs. The user guide is brief and doesn't provide much details beyond finding the UbiBot app from app store. This is where the entire consumer experience falls apart. The UbiBot is NOT meant for your average consumer as it is not intuitive, the user experience is outdated and difficult to understand and navigate and there are too many tabs and settings that will make no sense unless you have used other UbiBot IoT products and sensors before and this app is intended for that audience.I did manage to setup and use it as smart plug. You can use Alexa and setup a skill to work with the SP1, and this would probably be the preferred way to interact with the SP1 because the UbiBot app is hard to even turn on the plug. Where the SP1 would be provide value is those that likes to tinker and get into the details and the SP1 can provide a lot of data, include power consumption on the outlet (voltage, amperage, power), WiFi signal strength and it is supposed to provide temperature readings from the external temperature probe (DS18B20). However, I could not get the temperature probe to work no matter what I tried. It didn't help when the manual nor online guides helped to understand how to setup and get readings from probe. For what the SP1 can collect and present, I do think there is an audience, albeit a niche audience for this product. If you're looking for a smart plug to turn on your Christmas lights with Alexa, this is not the smart plug you want to get. The app is too difficult to use and most users have not need to see all that information outputted from SP1. It's hard to fault the SP1 as I'm not their intended user base, but for those building applications and need a smart plug with external sensors support, the SP1 is a good choice.

The sensors are slow to update and a bit confusing.
I couldn't set this up at first, at all, I kept getting an "invalid activation code" error no matter what I tried, and wasted a lot of time assuming it was something I was doing wrong (the setup process could be better to say the least). Finally I contacted UbiBot support and they did something on their end and it finally let me set it up... seems like they shipped it without provisioning it on their side of things or something silly like that. Anyway, got it set up. But, the temperature sensor so far never gives any readings in the app no matter how long I wait for them (and I did change it in the app to the right probe, why you need to do this yourself is beyond me)... was sure I had the probe in the right port, but tried it in the other just in case and still no dice. Also, there are other things in the app like watts and voltage being used by the smart plug which would have been awesome if they worked better but they're very slow to update and strangely it reports that the voltage is 240V even though this is plugged into a north American 120V power outlet, so one piece of data I get out of it is wrong and there is a really big lag in getting the watts. The only thing that I can seem to do in the app and get results right away and see a correct status for is turn the plug on and off. Obviously, you can get this basic functionality from any smart plug and for a fraction of the cost so I am still not impressed, especially taking into consideration the difficulty getting it to work at all. I'll keep messing around with it, I feel like it probably works better than I think it does right now but you really have to struggle with the app to utilize it properly.
