Completely Silent
When the water level is full this water dish makes no noise at all. Once the water level drops an inch or two you can hear a quiet waterfall effect. Topping off the water reservoir will make it completely silent again. When I had refilled the reservoir I had noticed that the water was still clean with very little contaminates like dirt and hair. I think it's due to the design of the top cover that is mostly solid with a few holes drilled in it. I really like the simplicity of the design. The top part where the water flows out of simply snaps on and off like a lid making everything easily accessible. The pump is placed in the center and the lid snaps back on. Easy. The water pump did not work with the first one that was shipped to me. But I did receive a new replacement with all working parts. Not sure why the first pump didn't work but at least the one I have now works fine.UPDATE 2 MONTHS LATERI just had to add this little update to say after 2 months of use I have only cleaned it once and the water never got slimy. I have used 2 other open air designs wothout a filter and both would start to get slimy after a week or so. I'm glad I bought this for my cats.

Best cat fountain I've had so far
The big problem with cat water fountains is how gross they get, so I was looking for something easy to clean. This is the easiest of the four fountains I've had, which is to say... still not that great. The stainless steel bowl and lid clean easily in the dishwasher, but the pump has a bunch of crevices that are hard to reach with a brush. And it will grow a biofilm (bacteria or mold) anywhere you don't reach. It says you can go 2-4 weeks without cleaning the pump, but honestly 2 weeks is pushing it. The carbon filter is tiny, and I doubt it's doing much to purify the water. I will say, after two years the pump is still going strong. I actually came here to write a negative review about it dying, but saw the company claim that almost all pump failures could be solved by cleaning, and hey: they were right. It just had a tiny hair stuck in the rotor.

Pump stopped working but is now fixed!!
Even with weekly cleaning and diligently replacing the water and the filters, the pump randomly stopped working. The day it died I remember hearing it was louder than usual and it scared my cat! I bought this on 30Sep2022 and it died 01Mar2023, frustrated because it is out of warranty and past the return window so the remaining options are to buy a replacement pump or to buy an entirely new fountain.Update: I used an adapter I had in place of the one that came with the fountain to see if maybe that was the problem and am happy to report it was!! Pump works fine now. Suggest anyone who is having a similar issue to do the same and if no luck, replace the pump or the entire fountain. It's possible the pumps included in some of the fountains were defective and suggest the manufacturer cross check against those who have reached out of posted similar reviews.I changed original rating from 1 star to 4 because of the faulty pump.

Exactly what it seems to be.
This is excellent. The motor and noise are very quiet (I am moderately hearing impaired, but I hear alot of my cats' toys and couldn't hear this unless I got real close). It had a large capacity, the water drip is low but not too low to create the babbling brook aesthetic meant to attract the cat.I think my one complaint is that I can't tell HOW full the thing is without leaning down and pulling the top off. A feature I'd suggest to the maker is a little float with a stick that comes up above the lid through a hole. If you can only see the tip, it needs more water. If you see too much, you've overfilled. Maybe color code a green range between two reds. That way I could glance at it and know.

Arrived broken & slimy!
Wouldn’t turn on, no matter what I did. The light did, but the pump just wouldn’t work. Cracked open the pump to try to find out what was wrong, and it was slimy in there for some reason??? Unfortunately, I broke a piece in the process which wouldn’t have impacted the functionality had the thing turned on again but does mean I almost certainly can’t get my money back.I’ve jury-rigged a pump from a cheap, second-hand, plastic cat fountain to fit with the top, and THAT pump works fine. So now the fountain works as intended, I guess. Three straws & a completely different pump later.I could’ve bought a metal serving bowl second hand, maybe punched some holes in the lid for drainage & to let the straw through if there weren’t steam holes there already, plopped in the pump I already had with just one straw as a spout, and would’ve gotten essentially the same results for less than half the price & time.

Cats are very happy with this and it's very quiet running
Love it! Very quiet, fits perfectly where I want it, fountain stream is very nice, cats love the bubbling water, and seems like it will last a good while. Would buy this again.

Starts trickling even with plenty of water left, filth and grime will sit unseen in the basin
It's a ok fountain, but I really do not like the design. It's a large bowl of water with a pump that suction cups in the middle, and a plate that fits on top of it that covers the bowl. This means if there's any nastiness developing in the water, you just can't see it unless you pull the lid off (which is hard, it almost suctions to the bowl) constantly. It also starts audibly trickling even with 1/2-3/4 the bowl of water remaining. Refilling is also troublesome because it'll just splash off unless you literally pour it from a few inches, max.The water pump mechanism is also troublesome to clean. Not a terribly big issue as they can only make the pump so disassemble-able, but I thought I'd mention it.Another thing, which is not the pump's fault, is this thing will get very nasty if you have hard water. I've soaked it in CLR and it will not come off. It's ultimately why I replaced it.

Good choice
It's very quiet, easy to assemble and clean. My cats like the option of the fountain drink as well.
