Kick: The True Story of Kick Kennedy, JFK’s Forgotten Sister, and the Heir to Chatsworth

Interesting topic awfully told
I love reading about the Kennedys and was looking forward to this but the style of writing totally grates with me and makes it unreadable. Nothing wrong with what's being said, plenty of information being conveyed, but the author for some bizarre reason chooses to write in childlike short sentences. "He was ill. They confined him to bed. It was a hot summer. Rose wouldn't allow him out." (not actual text). I've never read a book like it. It's very grating. I don't understand why she can't say "and". Or a "," here and there. Perhaps even a ";". If it was thriller maybe it would be to add tension but I see no purpose here but maybe i'm missing the point. It's a shame as was quite interested in Kick and being married the heir to the dukedom of Devonshire was interesting. Maybe it gets better after a while but it was too annoying for me to continue.

Thoroughly enjoyable
I absolutely loved this book. The content and the clarity of writing. There was no ‘according to such and such’ or relying on what people thought may have happened, this is a book based on facts. Nothing sensational and in fact I was expecting to read all sorts about the Kennedy parents being pushy uncaring people but they came across, particularly her father, as being loving and ambitious for their offspring but also ultimately understanding. I trusted this book. My introduction into the Kennedy family.

I would highly recommend this book.
This was a wonderful book. I had seen her grave in the churchyard at Edensor on the Chatsworth Estate near where I live and remember President Kennedy visiting there on his visit to the UK so wanted to know more about this young lady. I really felt I knew the family and wanted to keep turning the pages to learn more. She was a wonderful girl and the author has written a charming, well researched book. Kick was undoubtedly brought up in a tremendously wealthy bubble but I feel she would have contributed to public life, if she had lived, as did her brothers.

Unforgettable
I loved this book, thank you again Paula Byrne. What a story, and what tragedies. I am especially fond of Chatsworth, which I have known well over several decades, and always wanted to know more about poor Kathleen Kennedy.

A tragic story, brilliantly told.
A fascinating story, brilliantly told. Tragic, but at the same time very moving. Kick Kennedy must have been an enchanting character, a "good" person, with great depth. Almost everyone, except her horrible parents,, come out of this sad story well.
