Put them in the container. After several days they changed color. Recharged them in the oven for several hours and put back in. Niw the moisture is lowe, it takes a month or two to extract the moisture from the air. And the humidity is low.

I use 4 of these canisters within a full bed-sized mattress bag (4 mil thickness) that is wrapped around a steel pier at the bottom. It is not airtight as there are cords between the pier and bag. The bag protects a telescope stored within an outdoor observatory. While there is very little air exchange, it is not a air tight by any means. The humidity readings in the photo cover from ~11:30 pm when I first placed the desiccant containers atop to the pier through when rain began at ~3:30 am. It is still raining as I write this. I cannot speak tot he longevity of these beads, though I imagine they last as long as any other silica-based desiccant - the more exposure to moisture, the shorter the necessary time between recharges. These are working spectacularly well so far and, to be honest, better than I had even hoped.

After having these for a while, they absorbed some moisture and I was able to bake them and reuse them as advertised. 3 of these was not enough for the 6.3 cu ft space. I was hoping to protect. Still had rust issues in that space. For context the ambient humidity in my home is around 43 (not sure about unit) according to a room dehumidifier I have.

The measurement instrumentation used is very cheap, got it from Amazon.The humidity in the cabinet drawers I put them in are staying fairly constant at approximately 44% RH.This storage is in a semi airconditioned area, not outdoors. But a shop area that opens to the outside and has garage style doors, so not perfectly sealed.Have not had to heat the cannister to dry beads yet, so I cannot comment on that.

I have my safe in long term storage while house hunting and purchased these units to help protect the few guns I have in it. Over the past few months I’ve checked the safe and everything seems perfect, gel is still green. So far these dehumidifier’s seem to work as specified.
