Small book (it's narrow enough to fit into a shirt pocket). Note the dimensions in the product description. Makes it easy to carry while outside. Packed with lots of information. Covers other basic weather information besides just clouds (history of cloud naming, why the sky is blue, size and shapes of raindrops, cold fronts, hail, snow, weather maps, rainbows, etc.). Index in the back makes it easy to find specific information. Curiously, no table of contents. Because it does have a lot of information, the text font size is pretty small. Lots of full color pictures helps in cloud identification. Also, lots of charts and diagrams for other weather subjects. Very useful, very portable due to small size, but small size (and print) may disappoint some.

This is a great guide to clouds. I keep this in my deer hunting stand just so I can get a jump start on what mother nature is throwing my way. It fits easily in a backpack or cargo pocket, uses simple easy to understand terms, and is loaded with information. There over 100 amazing photos (counted myself) that are roughly 3 1/4" by 3 1/4"... and a dozen or so diagrams showing how storms work. Keep in mind that its a pocket guide, and is not very large at all. It doesn't break out into incredible detail about storms, but gives you the basics.. and I can vouch that its plenty of information to help predict whats coming your way. I had to finally get a new one after my original copy was stolen with my backpack... but the pages are semi-glossy and repel water pretty well if you DO get caught in a storm. Other than that, there isn't much to say about this product. If you camp, hike, hunt, or do any outdoors activities that take you off the beaten trail... this is good for you.

I asked for this for my birthday, because I wanted to learn about clouds. I keep it on the window sill, and enjoy looking up the clouds that each day offers up. The photos are good, and explanations direct and fairly simple, except for a few subjects, where they get very technical.

This book is a great way to get a lot of useful and interesting information in a small package. I was amazed at how comprehensive this guide is for its size- a great starter and useful tool to carry around and actually look at what you are learning about.

This is a decent cloud atlas and it's pocket sized and something you take with you when you go out to look at the sky. It has very good photos of different cloud types, an interesting chapter on sky color phenomena, explanations about cloud formation and growth and a little bit about weather forecasting and weather maps. All in all it's a very good beginner's reference for someone who's developing an interest in weather.

I was hoping this book would aid me in gaining a general idea of the weather to be expected by simply observing the sky and nature - it does not. There is plenty of useful information in this little book (which is mostly photos and diagrams), but if you are an outdoorsman or outdoorswoman looking for a few "tips" or bits of weather folklore to use on a day-to-day basis, then this is definitely not the book for you. If you want to learn to identify clouds, understand basic weather, and answer some nonpractical (to the everyday guy/gal) questions you've had about weather and the atmosphere, then get this book. Otherwise, I would recommend you pass this text by and find another, or at least look at this text only as supplemental material to what you are actually looking for. Again, this text is not bad, but it is not what I was looking for and the description had me thinking it might hold those qualities, but it does not. On the plus side, you can read all 124 pages (cover to cover, minus index) in less than an hour and you'll have some decent pictures to help you identify clouds.

My grandson will love this for Christmas. size is very nice. easy reading and following along. good index and not too complicated to look up certain subjects.

Book is very informative and refreshes information I had previously learned.

Would recommend to anyone interested in 'Clouds' and subsequent weather. More people should spend some time looking 'up'. Cloud formations are amazing! Give it a try!

Compact, well organized, clearly explained, informative introduction to sky watching.

This is a book that I am sure my daughter will enjoy as she is a cloud watcher.
