Robin Hood

Love this movie! A childhood favorite and I watch it often. Super cute and funny as well.

Another great Disney classic. Something the whole family can enjoy.

Robin Hood is one hour and twenty-three minutes and was released in theaters on November 8, 1973. Basically it is the same story in live action films with the exception it is animated and uses animals instead of people. The story is simple; Robin Hood robs from the rich and gives to the poor, rescues Maid Marian from the evil clutches of Prince John, and rescues Friar Tuck from hanging and returns the stolen money to the poor people of Nottingham. Each character is protrayed by an animal. My biggest argument that not all the animals protrayed in the film hail from the forrest. Prince John is a thin lion, Sir Hiss is a snake, Robin Hood is a fox, Maid Marian is a vixen, Little John is a bear, Sheriff of Nottingham is a wolf, and Friar Tuck is an American badger. I am sure someone else wrote a more detailed version of the story. My comments will be on the making of the movie.The movie had a very small budget to begin and a lot of a lot of the scenes were reused from other movies. A good example is the dance scene with Lady Cluck and Little John. It mirrors the dance sequence from the Jungle Book where King Louie and Baloo dance to the song I Wanna Be Like You. Even the vultures in this movie were identical to the ones in the Jungle Book. Also the voice of Little John is identical to that of Baloo; even though Phil Harris provide both of the voices. Since the movie is set in England six of the actors are from England: Peter Ustinov as Prince John, Terry-Thomas as Sir Hiss, Brian Bedford as Robin Hood, Monica Evans as Maid Marian, Carole Shelley as Lady Kluck, and J. Pat O'Malley as Otto the dog. Another thing with this movie is the ongoing goof of Skippy's hat, the one giving to him by Robin Hood on his birthday, it starts off as a pale yellow and switches to green and back at yellow again. In 1974 Robin Hood was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Music, Original Song for the song Love, but lost to The Way We Were to the film with the same title. A very different telling of the story of Robin Hood. There are a lot of actions and events not seen in other movies. The basic story line is held intact but how it is played out is so different. Some changes in how past people were portrayed in this telling makes it interesting. In any event it is still a story about the good guys and the bad guys. Well worth watching and having in your collection.

Awesome cartoon classic. Robin Hood is one of my favorite heroes. I like how he is a Fox and tricks everyone with his disguises. The wolf the sheriff of Nottingham, the vultures knotxy and triger, prince John a lion that all his tricks are no good and Sir Hiss a snake,don't sell little John short hilarious i highly recommend this movie, seller to anyone

The DVD arrived brand new, on time and as described. Played great with no skips, and no damage to the packaging. It was nice to relive a childhood favorite. Great music and wonderful, classic animation.
