Yeah... get it.
I never thought I'd trust something like this, but I was curious. A lot of the more well-known brands are way too expensive. You pay $40 for the tool and $40 for the "Bosch" or "DeWalt" or "Milwaukee" badge. Sometimes it makes perfect sense to tie yourself to a well-known brand and other times it doesn't make sense. So, with that in mind, and knowing that I have been wanting to try one of these laser measures for a while, I bought this.Out of the box it was configured to use oppressive, tyrannical, communist units (meters and decimals). I had to read the manual to learn how to set it to measure in freedom units (feet, inches and fractions). Once I did that, it was pretty easy to figure out the basics. I set it to read from its base instead of its nose, so that I could press the base against a wall and "boop" the distance across the room. Sometimes though I want it to read from its nose, so that's pretty easy to set on the fly, and important to know.1. Set it to read in freedom units2. set it to read from the base or the nose3. get to measuring. My first impression is, this thing is strikingly accurate! I usually carry a Milwaukee 25' tape on my hip and the first room I needed to measure was about 25 feet 2 inches by 29 feet four inches. So I pulled this out and "beep - beeped" the room in a few seconds, all by myself. I didn't even need anyone to hold the other end of the laser, and it didn't sag across the room!!I wrote down the measurements then went and borrowed a longer tape from my partner, and got him to hold one end, while we re-measured the room the old fashioned, cave-man way.The laser was within 1/16" of the tape measure's numbers. You can gain or lose twice that in the read on the bend at the end of a tape measure, or the sag on a long measurement. I'm leaning toward thinking that the laser measure is more accurate. it also took me about a tenth of the amount of time take a room's measurements, and I can do it all alone.Overall I am incredibly impressed with it. I need to sit down and learn some of the more esoteric features of this thing, because it seems like it will do all kinds of cool stuff, like keep track of measurements of a room.Things that could be better...1. One downside I can mention is this. The manual is very important, because this thing will do all kinds of cool things and none of it is intuitive. That said, it would be nice if the manual would fit into the little pouch with the tool so that you don't lose it.2. Another thing is, the little bubble level on the front is very difficult to see. It'd be nice if you put a light on it so that when the tool is on, the bubble is lit up so I can see it.So manufacturer, if you are taking suggestions... do those two things. This thing is cool, and you cannot beat it for the price. Get one!

Makes quick measurements easy
Easy to use and accurate enough for estimating distances. Easier than trying to use a tape measure by yourself

SImple to use and a quality tool
We do home renovations and having a way to quickly measure rooms for flooring, paint, plumbing runs and electrical runs is key. Using a tape is a pain and after seeing someone using the laser tape measure made a believer of us. We had tried to old acoustic device that was finicky and inaccurate half the time so we had gone back to the tape or wheel. This makes all other measurements obsolete when scoping out work. Easy to use and extremely accurate (we checked readings with a tape and they were spot on) makes this a must have if you need to take measurements especially by yourself.

Good for basic use
I use this for photography metering of my old film cameras. Simple and good enough.

would you rather spend $20 or $150?
This tool does the work of one of those fancy expensive brand name tool which can cost up to 300 dolars like a hilti one.Great accuracy. don't know much about battery life since I just bought it recently. Display is, so so, specially when reading fractions of an inch. But definitely an amazing value for your money.

Not properly squared
The measure is straightforward and easy to use. Unfortunately, I discovered while using it that the back and base are not perfectly flat and square. Flipping it from one side to the other changes the angle of the laser by a degree or two, which over a longer distance will add up to considerable error in the reading. I am returning the unit and will get something else instead.
