This unique storage bin is crafted from vintage book spines and a wooden crate. It is the ideal size for storing cords, CDs, important papers, mail, etc. It is also great for hiding routers and modems. You can use it as a decor piece, or nestle it among your own books. I love vintage books- I love their look, their smell, and I love the thrill of finding a treasure at a yard sale or thrift shop. My personal stash is getting out of control, so I decided to make something that combines the aesthetic of vintage books with functionality. Sometimes people ask me whether I feel bad about cutting up books. The answer is yes and no. I love books and am an avid reader. The books I use for the planters are the discards from a used book shop as well as withdrawn books from my local library. They are the books no one is buying or reading anymore. The books are cut with a band saw, and the part of the book I cant use is recycled. I take the book spines and mount them to the wood box with a special non-toxic adhesive. I make these crates in a variety of sizes. This one measures 12" wide, 8.5" high (in the front), and 11" deep. The crate itself is very well made, with handles and dovetail joints.
