Wow, I had no idea!!
So I've seen these racks of different makes and models floating around for years and always thought these were the cheesiest things ever compared to my big, beefy, permanently mounted Yakima rack that you could dangle the whole car from, if you have to. Then a friend bought one and I saw it in action and I thought to myself, you know, my bikes are all under 30 lbs. Why do I need a rack that could withstand a bazooka hit? Well, short answer: I bought this, it attaches nearly effortlessly to my Hondas (Element and Accord). It detaches truly effortlessly just by popping the trunk/hatch. It's light, but way beefier than I ever anticipated. It's so universally effortless and secure and a pleasure to use that I'll literally throw the bikes on the car, even if there isn't any riding scheduled to planned. CML — Changed My Life…

Worked w/ 2016 CX9
Worked well with my 2016 CX-9, even though it wasn’t listed on the product’s website as one of the make/models that were compatible It worked well with two full size bike adult bikes (hybrid) & my 7 year old’s bike. The adult bikes did need to be Tetris’d together in order to be attached side by side. I used it on a 5 hour car-ride; max 76mph. Average driving speed 70mph. I did have to make some adjustments to make it work properly for instance, the arms that extended downward - I had to place them on the outside to avoid them sitting on the license plate. Make sure you put some kind of covering on the pedals for the bike closest to the car - it can def scratch the car (I used two socks and that worked well). While you’re at it, you might as well cover all of the pedals, because my middle bike’s got pretty scratched up from the outside bike’s pedals. Otherwise, if used properly … great product! I haven’t tried 3 adult bikes, but it was fine w/ 2 adult and 1 child

2016 Kia Soul Review
Yes you can use these on a Kia Soul. It just needs to be situated high enough for the bottom legs to rest on the flat part of the trunk door (the black strip). You will also need at least one pack of hatch huggers (2 straps per pack, also sold by Saris $25) for the sides as the Saris website suggests as the side hooks are not compatible. I also bought a pack for the top straps for extra peace of mind. I actually have top and side straps looped through the metal rings that the backseat click into, unless a strap breaks this thing isn't going anywhere. I'd say pretty easy to set up. I'm pretty mechanically minded and everything seemed pretty intuitive. I have neuropathy in my hands and this is the first rack that I can manipulate all of easily, most importantly getting the straps tight enough. I love the additional stabilizing straps on the rack for wheels, pedals etc. Now security, the only reason I dropped a star because it's fussy and adds cost. You'll need a security strap, I have a Thule passive lock strap ($30) you can see it in the middle going into the bottom of my trunk. The only place to put it is around the middle cylinder. Additionally think about how you will secure the bike to the rack, again you will need to use the middle cylinder otherwise all someone would really need to do is cut the straps to get to the feet of the rack. I bought a Kryptonite Kryptolok and ran it through the middle cylinder, it's the perfect length to secure one bike and doubles as a stabilizer for the front wheel. Also, just because it's coming anyway I use my Kryptonite u-lock around the frame and middle cylinder, one of the stabilizing straps on the rack reaches perfectly to secure it in place. I basically am going for making it look as complicated as possible to mess with. Even if somehow a would be thief got through the very strong passive strap, they would still have the chain and ulock to deal with to even get the bike off the rack itself. I can also run the Kryptonite chain lock through the passive lock strap where it straps around the middle cylinder to really make messing with anything a pain in the behind. Performance 10/10! I've taken this out with two very heavy hybrids and felt very secure. Absolutely nothing moved, about a 20 minute ride and since I'm in Pennsylvania over lots of hills and potholes. The real test was the hour long ride to my office building, which will be a once a week occurrence, I'm lucky to work right beside a very nice biking trail. Completely stable, again lots of Pennsylvania roads. Never moved, straps stayed secure. I was able to stop checking through my rear view anxiously like I've done with other racks. If you're on the fence, just buy it. I'm so glad I did.

Trustworthy, solid, flexible for different vehicles, easy to use
I have used it for two 8-hour trips (both of these with heavier bikes - 2 old 80's roadbikes once, and 1 80's roadbike and a hybrid the 2nd time), a 2-hour trip (2 new light road bikes and a new light hybrid) and a 1-hour trip (2 new light roadbikes). And a couple of times for short jaunts elsewhere. I am really happy with this. After some experimenting, I found optimal placement for the inside bike pedal to not scratch the car and to be able to avoid the pedals of the 2nd bike - inside pedal zip-tied to the downward support - and to keep the pedals from rotating and potentially scratching the back of the car. After all of that, I know for sure that I trust this thing with my bikes. I recommend that you drive a couple of miles and then stop and re-tighten the straps that hold it on, as sometimes they jiggle a little bit loose after you start driving (not the manufacturer's fault - if anything, it would be my own fault at time of installation). I loaned this out since it can be easily adjusted to fit various cars. No paint or clear coat scratching (except where I incorrectly tied it to the car the first time - my fault - find places to attach the straps where they aren't laying against / touching / rubbing against the clear coat), but there could be a little bit of clear coat smudging where the rubber feet sit on the trunk (not scratches though). Nothing that is very noticeable though, you have to look for it. It is easy to attach and use, gets easier each time, although because of its flexibility and security there are several (necessary) steps to attaching it to the car and attaching the bikes to it. These steps are easy, though.

I've had these before and they are very reliable. This one worked for my suv, but just barely - wish I had noticed the other version first. The straps are more substantial than they used to be I believe - great for strapping down, but it can be a bit of work lifting the innermost bikes in past the first set of straps.

Purchased this for a trip up the NSW coast on the back of a Citroen Grand Picasso. Worked perfectly - easy to put on, held firm, not a worry about it holding 2 adult bikes. Great buy.

I cannot stress enough how much I love this bike rack. This was my favourite purchase in 2017. I took my bike on road trips with me, and it was awesome. It fits securely onto my vehicle and there is no worries if you drive over little bumps on the road - bikes will stay secure. I kept my Saris bike rack on the car ALL SUMMER LONG (which means through rainstorms too!) and when I took it off in the middle of Fall, there were no marks, no scratches. Love this bike rack. Buy it. It's worth it.

Far superior to other Halford models I've tried. I bought this in particular because it was able to work with both a BMW X3 and also a saloon (BMW 3 series). Set up is very straight forward and I think the design is quite neat - I like how all the cables go through the centre bar. Each bike has 3 of its own dedicated clips. I've only tried fitting two bikes on this but it was very easy to do. The only annoying thing is that the bikes cover the license plate so I've had to buy a spare plate - but that's going to be the case with most bike carriers.
