Marshall’s Creek Spices Pickling Spice Seasoning Refill, 16 Ounce

I recently started canning. I thought this might have a pickle recipe, and at the very least- measurements.I had no idea how much to add to a batch because even the website didn't have instructions.

This 16 oz zip Lock bag for $10.77, looks the same as there 16 oz plastic bottle they sell for $8.60, you should check it out. Other then that it's a good pickling seasoning

Plenty of spices for pickling Cukes. Just slice them up, add water and spice and in 3 to five days refrigerated you’ve got crispy pickles.

I like the fact that there is no cinnamon, which is what Martha Stewart recommended. Most pickling spice has cinnamon so this was a rare find. Economical packaging keeps prices low. I can transfer this to my old bottle as needed.

I found this to be a good, basic pickling spice for eggs, sausages, pickles, etc. You may want to add additional spices to suit your taste. I like to add additional peppercorns, mustard seed and hot peppers.The packaging is problematic. The spices came in a zip-loc bag and to ensure the spices didn't escape during shipping, the vendor heat-sealed the bag right next to the zip-loc channels. So, the act of opening the bag destroyed it and I then had to use my own bag for storage. Perhaps the vendor did not mean for the bag to be re-used, but isn't that the purpose of zip-loc bags?Why only 4 stars? For some reason I decided to weigh the spices on my kitchen scales. The listing states the net wt. of this product is 16 oz, and the package label echoes the same. My kitchen scale showed the net wt. was 14.8 oz. That means the package was short about 1.2 oz, or 7.5%.I realize the weight difference would appear to be a small issue to some, but buying a 16 oz. bag of product and receiving less than 15 oz. is significant enough to take notice of.This is a good product at a good price and I recommend it. The vendor just needs to rethink the packaging, as well as how many ounces are to be promised/shipped.

I’ve been using this for cold pickling for a couple of years now. I pickle cukes and eggs and they come out better than the store brand.

First time trying this spice blend. The package came sealed in a ziplock bag as in the photo and seemed fresh. I don't really have anything to compare it to in terms of flavour but over all, I would not hesitate to recommend buying this item if you need pickling spices. The convenience is pretty good as I went to several supermarkets and there was nothing comparable. Great value item!

i used this product for making pickled eggs ,beets,and chow i love it and the only thing i did was add about 36 whole cloves to the bags as i use cloves in my pickles so i emptied the bag in a large bowl then cut up the bay leaves and peppers as they are very large and then mixed in the cloves and rebagged .....after testing all three of the above mentioned pickles i am more than pleased and fully recommend this spice to anyone!!

The pickling spice has everything that is supposed to be in it, however the execution is not correct.The bag came with whole bay leaves and chilli peppers in it. Normally these are crushed/pepper flakes. So I picked them all out and chopped them into small pieces for adding to my pickles.

Couldn’t find this at the store. The package is three times bigger than what I usually buy, but the result are good.
