Simple and cheap perfect for classroom replacement
Every teacher knows you put your hand in your pocket for school supplies. This was one of them for me. It was a quick and easy and cheap solutions to get compasses into the hands of the little ones.

Reassuringly sturdy
My younger son is nearly 13 and has a compulsion to take things apart. He is incredibly good at it and if we find a way to harness it, I'm sure it will stand him in good stead in the future. In the meantime it is causing me all manner of headaches because he has destroyed three sets of maths instruments since he returned to school at the start of September - that's basically a set a week. He snaps compasses like he's separating chopsticks. Which explains why I am now buying them in bulk. These feel reassuringly sturdy and I'm hoping ten will last him till at least Christmas. I'm nothing if not optimistic.

Flimsy update
If they weren't stamped with the Helix name, I would have thought that they were cheap copies. They certainly aren't as shown in the photos. The arms may be metal but the ring you attach the pencil with is incredibly thin plastic and looks like it will snap or thread if too much force is applied. Not happy with this version at all.
