Yes. You can place it in hot or cold water for heat or cold therapy.

No this is a hard plastic. Very durable and washable. Easy to handle and great for hard to reach areas like the back of neck and shoulders. I have one in almost every room and vehicle. I even carry one in my purse 😊 I know it sounds crazy but I love these little helpers. I have purchased for many of my family members who suffer from chronic pain it is definitely helpful .
