Salaam, with Love (Underlined)

When I started Salaam, With Love I wasn’t expecting to go through an emotional rollercoaster (like I ended up doing). I was expecting a cute book something like a Hallmark Christmas film but with muslim characters and based around Ramadan and then Eid. What I got was so, so much more (and so much more than a Ramadan based holiday book).I honestly don’t know how to do a book like Salaam With Love justice, my words fall short of just how much it touched my heart. I spent the majority of the book alternating between Awww and that sobbing emoji - literally. The characters are endearing, not just Dua and Hassan but all of them, the cousins, aunties and uncles - and there was no stereotypes in sight (other than the importance of chai in a desi household and I saw no lies haha)… By the end of the book I was rooting for each and every character and their happily ever afters. I don’t think I even managed to get to the end of the book before that was happening, to be honest.Word of advice, this book will have you craving biryani and samosas (I know I did) so have them ready beforehand… No but in all seriousness, it takes one heck of a talented writer to have even the descriptions be so realistic that they’re almost tangible (case in point, I’m still craving biryani haha).I kid you not when I say that these characters and this book have my heart, I hope that someday soon we get a film (or tv show, I’m not fussy *wink*) adaptation, we need more stories like Salaam With Love .
