what is the recommended speed for this bit for stainless steel?

I use an ancient Craftsman 1/2 horse with one speed (400RPM) and can get through anything.

Will this bit drill cast iron pipe?

I have used the bit on stainless, carbon, galvanized, and aluminum. One recurring issue is as each step breaks through, it catches and hard stops the bit. That action might cause cast to crack, especially on the larger diameter holes.
