This is a cool little gadget to have. I struggle with directional disorientation, and this helps IMMENSELY! Sometimes, I just walk around my house, around my neighborhood, or ride with it in the car, and study the direction on the compass. A handy item for adults and children alike (keep it in your car, so you don't get lost)!

I received the compass in a timely but the first compass didn't work, Amazon promptly replaced the item and it works perfectly. It's a good product and reasonably priced.

Works as intended

Gifted the compass to my 12 year old nephew and he loved it. Lugged it around the mountains for a week and I made sure to show him how to use it. I would suggest a short, easy to read, easy to understand guide be provided as youngsters may not have the benefit of a retired, old fart Boy Scout being around to explain on how to use the compass.

When I received this compass I confirmed that it functioned correctly. I used it for one hike and then stored it with my hiking gear for about a month. The second time I went to use it, the dial was stuck and would not function properly. There is nothing metal in my hiking storage that would have affected the magnetic strength.

Excellent product

Don’t waste your money, it doesn’t work. North is off by about 30/40 degrees, isn’t consistent and you get a new direction every time. Bought this for a simple trail compass, to help orient me on remote sites for work, so I’m glad I didn’t actually need it while hiking or something or I’d still be lost and would have ended up like that poor idiot from the movie Into the Wild. Don’t do it, choose life or gift it to someone you hate.
