Would this be acceptable to use under a porch? It will see occasional moisture from blown in rain and snow.

Your question suggests that you plan on using the jack as a long-term or permanent support under your porch. I can't imagine that it's recommended for that, though if not for rust, it'd probably hold. It's really for temporary lifting and support while you effect something that will last.

The jack lifts with increasing difficulty as the weight approaches the maximum rated capacity. You will need to determine the lift range needed for your van, This jack has a rather limited lift range. It also has a narrow base, so will require a pad under it for jacking in grass. I have lifted my van with mine. You should coat the threads with a load bearing grease before your first lift.

The head size is 2 3/8 inches. It will work upside down or in any direction, but be careful to make sure you have access to the bar holes to expand the Jack.
