One of the most detailed guides in aspiring herbalist can have regarding herbal medicine. Make no mistake, well this is an invaluable resource, it is dense with information. It truly is a compendium of holistic pharmacology. It integrates both energetic and material perspectives. Thus, you will find a discussion on the various tissue States, treatments, a discussion on various qualities, cycles, etc of the blood and the impact that various herbals have upon it. The second part of the book which is indeed the bulk of the book delves into the various Flora and fauna of Medicine and the use thereof. What I really love about this book is that it talks about the various literature that the many herbs are found in. This allows one to expand their research and grow in knowledge. Hands down, this book is worth every penny.

A very well specific and explained about every herb of the New World, using the basics theories from the greek and giving you a well perspective of how you can detect and develop any illness and it cure. If you need a guide to begin with or just as a resourceful references. This book is a perfect asset for your library.

If you only have two books in your home on herbal remedies, this one and its companion are the ones to have. The information is well-researched, as complete as possible and very easy to find your particular condition. Dosage information is also provided, something you won't always find on the herbal tincture bottles in the health food store. I've learned to go to these books FIRST before seeking medical treatment and almost always find relief. Remember that modern medicine is BASED on herbal (plant) medicine before they are mutated in the laboratory. Highly recommended!

Excellent book. I have found why Matthew Wood is well known, referenced, sought after healer. I would find it amazing to just sit with him for one day watching him heal those who came to him. I am a CMH but he goes beyond that and it is in this book. It is easy to follow, makes sense, has you saying "I would never have thought of that." and is just an enjoyable book to read, if you like herbs that is. Have been buying all his books and will buy whatever he puts out.

This book is loaded with helpful information about herbs and has become a vital tool in helping me build up my materia medica. I appreciate that he includes what each herb tastes like as well as indications for each. My only complaint is the printing job. As you can see in the video several pages are stuck together, like the pages weren’t cut and glued in properly. It’s definitely a bummer because the book looks cheap and low quality which is in no way a reflection of the authors fantastic work. It’s still useful the way it is but I thought others should know.

much more in depth than other herbal books- this reads as a textbook- in a good way. the materia medica is so useful, and detailed - it's perfect for people looking for a bit more advanced information on herbs.

Handy as Mathew Wood writes about tissue states as well as other indications of the herbs, and one generally gets the sense he speaks from personal experiance with the plants.
