It works! Four year review!
This 4 pack Baby gate wall cup protector is the best. We bought our: Regalo 56-Inch Extra WideSpan Walk Through Baby Gate, Includes 4-Inch, 8-Inch and 12-Inch Extension, 8 Piece Set four years ago because we have three little girls; a four year old, and twin 21 month olds. We needed a baby gate to keep them off the stairs, yet still gave them freedom to play in the living room.We needed to protect our walls and to give more of a tight fit. So I gave this product a try. It makes the gate more secure, has more of a grip, and it has a damage free design for walls. After the four years of using this, we have not run into any issues, and our walls have been damage free, yet still gives the baby gate more security. I would highly recommend this item!

Excellent baby gate extenders
These are excellent for wide openings for baby gates. They also save your wall from damage.

I would buy them again if I needed them.
Works well as described, I’m also very happy that I didn’t have to put holes in the wall again. Seems very sturdy and looks great, super easy to just click into place and use your baby gate to hold them up.

Very sturdy! Love the extra tall height AND heavier weight! Gate is very secure!
This gate was recommended to me by a friend with kids and dogs. It was worth every penny! Got this gate to keep a 3 year old, 40 pound, very enthusiastic, high energy, strong dog in the large kitchen area while we’re out or if guests come. She stands on her hinds legs and pushes against the gates. She is at the tall end of what is considered a medium sized dog-specifically she is a German Pointer - terrier mix. We have 2 of these gates in use to block off both thresholds; one is wider than the other. The extensions that came with each gate attach easily and hold up well; they do not compromise sturdiness! The extra tall height AND the heavier weight are essential for keeping keeping dogs/kids/cats from climbing/jumping over or passing through the bars. I have found that heavier gates like this one do a much better long term job than their lightweight counterparts. The gate operation to open it is easy for adults but impossible for babies and little kids, as well as pets. It also has a color- marker so you can tell if gate is balanced and securely closed. And you can here when it shuts securely. It’s an absolute must to measure your openings, including moldings that pressure mounts or wall fixtures to which gates may be attached.I found the printed instructions to be somewhat confusing but the visuals were very helpful. I think the instructions were written by someone who doesn’t speak and write English fluently. The most important thing is to remember that until the gate is almost completely in place, there will be a visual gap in the opening. This is not a default. And it’s written in the instructions and on box. So do not worry.

Great lifehack tool for baby gate MacGyvering
We have two baby gates, but not for a baby. We use them instead to prevent our young/lumbering/largish dog from coming upstairs. I've been through three different types/sizes of baby gates and they all SORT of fit in the places I want, but not completely. I am apparently the only person on Earth who wants to prevent another mammal from going up the stairs, but also has a stairway with one side being wall and one side being open wood railing. The number of options for this scenario are staggeringly limited. We really wanted to avoid having to drill it into the wall since we had that type for our actual human babies, but even the ones you drill into the wall don't have a good option for what to do with the side that is a banister. So then you're stuck with fiddling with the tension settings of each end of the gate to try and make it tight enough that it stands up, but loose enough that you can still open the gate. And, because of the setup of our stairs, the area where we can fit it above the floor board caused it to constantly sit at an unstable angle.I've tried all different placements, and really wound up with one TINY area of the stair landing where the gate could reach both walls. However, even once we *finally* get it to hold in place, all it takes is one kid leaning on it, another kid closing it too hard, or the dog seeing the cats and using it as a prop to stand up to see better, and the whole thing is humpty dumpty. I bought these wall cups because the pressure from the gate end pieces was damaging the wall/wood banister, and every time the gate would fall over, the wall would get scuffed and knicked. I had hoped these would help prevent some of that wall damage as well as give it a little more stability. We also had the issue that even though the gates say they fit certain widths, they really don't do certain widths in a secure way. You have to untwist the ends almost to the point of falling out. I MacGyvered the crap out of all the different possible combinations of the gate + add on + removing certain pieces of the pressure knobs, but the addition of these cups on one side only was JUST the right size for the gate to hold. These gave it just the right additional length to fit in the spot I needed the gate, as well as help secure the gate from constantly sliding out of place. I am very happy to say that since installing these, the gate is just the right snugness, and has only fallen over once when my four year old was hanging on the door.So I really probably didn't use these exactly for their conventional use, but if you are trying to maneuver your baby gate in an unusual place where nothing else quite fits, I recommend you trying these. I can also attest that they do help prevent wall damage and limit the gate's mobility against the wall. Very happy that this little purchase saved the day.

Work exactly as described
These wall guards work perfectly with our Safety 1st extra wide baby gate. We needed a gate at the bottom of our stairs now that our grandson is crawling and we didn't want to dent or mark our freshly painted walls. They work exactly as described. We've taken the gate down several times and reinstalled it during visits and there are no marks whatsoever on the walls. Highly recommend this product!!
