nice little book
helpful little book, for when you are overwelhmed.

Perfect for managers
The Perfect Phrases books are excellent for managers, supervisors and new HR practitioners. I purchased nearly all of them early on in my career and would lend them out to my client group when they were struggling with articulating their thoughts when writing disciplinary actions and during performance review time. After several years of lending them out, someone checked them out and didn't return them so I purchased them again. The old ones were a little worn and the books are reasonably priced, so I wasn't too upset.

Great resource for most jobs
Helpful when writing a performance appraisal and gives ideas. Does not list all categories there can be and tends to be more positive remarks versus negative. Found that positive remarks are easier to write and would have liked a few more comments that were aligned to someone not doing as well. Overall very glad this was purchased as it is another resource I can turn to when needed.

Some of this stuff would get you sued
This book is supposed to be serious but really it is funny. For example, a performance problem can be "eats with mouth open." I mean, come on, you can't put that in someone's appraisal. Can a book be written to document employee problems in a way that won't get us sued? That would be helpful. If nothing else, this book makes interesting party conversation when you are drinking.

More for office personnel but not for boots on the ground during the job

What a great resource for any seasoned or new professional!
Read through this book and found it VERY helpful. If you are a seasoned HR Professional or Manager, or new to the profession(s), this book is for you. The lists are comprehensive enough that most anyone can benefit from them. Sections are easy to navigate and find the applicable phrase quickly and easily. Highly recommended.

I have to complete annual evaluations and this book helps tremendously by me not repeating myself with each employee. I can give a more personalized evaluation.

Makes it easier...
No one likes dealing with performance problems, however when you do, this really helps to get the right words and phrases in place to clarify the issues...If you are unfortunate to have to deal with this, I highly recommend this book!
