My 10 year old german shepherd has been on cosequin DS for the last few years, but they don't seem to be enough anymore. She's been slowing down a good bit on our walks, and I'm in college so the even stronger supplements are pretty pricey. Plus, it was aggravating making her swallow the capsules or dumping them in her food, which sometimes gets everywhere lol. So I finally found these and the price is amazing, plus I love that they contain MSM. I gave her one to try and after her thorough investigation of this little pebble her mom was offering her(smh), she gobbled it up along with the other 5(she's 80 lbs so the recommended dose for her size for the first 4-6 weeks is 6 a day, then 3 a day for maintenance. So the largest dose of this will last 3x longer than a small dose of Cosequin DS for the same price! Even better, 100% of the profits go to charities for animal shelters! I will update after about 6 weeks or whenever they seem to start taking effect, but so far so good!😄👍🏽👍🏽**UPDATE** They work great! Her limping decreased and she seems to be more comfortable.

I started these two months ago for both my dogs who are still pretty young. I have a 5 yo poodle and a 4 yo terrier mix. I’ll speak about the 4 yo. She has a build similar to a dachshund, long body and low to the ground. I started her early as I want her joints to stay in great health as she ages. Within a few days after starting, I noticed a remarkable difference in her. All of a sudden she was playing with my 5 year old 1-2 times a day like she did when she was a puppy. Also, she jumps on the furniture much more readily and easier than she had in a couple of years. I didn’t realize she was already being affected in her joints, and just thought she was going to be a quiet dog. I am so happy to see this change in her! Just much more active, and she doesn’t take a long time anymore getting ready to jump on the couch, chair and bed. I haven’t noticed a difference in my poodle, but he has a much different build, and is more agile and athletic. I would recommend to everyone to start their dogs on this no matter how young or old they are. It obviously works very well in keeping the joints lubricated.

Almost to the end of the 30-day/4 pills a day dose for my 11-year-old lab-greyhound mix, about to go to 2-a-day. He's always had weak hips due to his greyhound-thin legs and pelvis on an otherwise heavier lab frame. Add age and arthritis, and he was really starting to struggle getting up from lying down, and climbing the 3 steps on the backyard porch. I have been watching him closely and he clearly is having an easier time with both. He has also been initializing play with our 1-year-old cavalier, instead of getting annoyed that she wants to play. Obviously, I can't ask him how he feels, but my observations indicate that this medication is starting to help. I rated the flavor high, because when I opened the bottle for the first time, I though, "Nope, he'll never eat these". They are hard and chalky, and just don't have a meaty smell, as most "treats" do (which is how I present these to him). He held the first one in his mouth for a few seconds, not sure what to do with it, but then finally bit into it and seemed to enjoy it. He has happily woofed down all subsequent doses.

Don't know if this is good or not, having just got it and having given it to my dog once. But she does love the taste.

I’ve bought other joint supplements for my dogs. The dogs didn’t eat them at all. Or they didn’t seem to help. I have 3 dogs taking this supplement and another one that will be starting soon. I shake them in a little bacon grease or chicken fat so they eat them first with their breakfast. I’ve noticed a huge improvement in activity levels, distance covered in the yard and pastures. Dogs playing and rough housing!! I have 10 dogs, 9 of them weigh over 65 pounds, 5 of those are 100 plus pounds. Joint health is a challenge for big dogs. My budget is small, but this supplement really works so I stretch to get 500 tabs a month.

I never write reviews, but this product is worth my time to review. We have an 8 year old female labradoodle who weighs about 50 lbs. About 18 months ago she started limping and favoring her right rear leg. The vet said she almost certainly had a ligament tear and recommended surgery. We’ve been through that surgery twice with our last dog and the recovery is not fun. So we had the surgery scheduled out about 2 months because we we had a trip planned that would conflict with our dog’s recovery period (which is 2-3 months). We had been giving her these pills and they didn’t seem yo be doing much. The dose we were giving her was 2 pills per day, so I decided to up the dose to 3 pills per day. Fast forward 2 months and her limping had all but disappeared. She was still favoring the leg slightly, but she was running around our yard, chasing our other dog and showing almost no signs of pain. So we cancelled the surgery. That was 6 months ago. She takes a 3-4 mile walk every day and shows very little sign of pain or discomfort in her leg. Perhaps it was a small tear that healed somewhat. But I attribute this recovery to the pills. A 6 month supply (3 pills per day, 500 pills) is about $50. Surgery: $5,000 and a nasty recovery. Totally worth a try if your dog has joint issues.
