Shocked and Thrilled with this!
I was so worried that I was spending $47 for some shoe polish for my head. Fortunately, I was wrong. I have struggled for decades with alopecia, but aging and menopause have just made it worse. After one daughter got married, I was heartbroken over some of the pictures where I looked good except for my thin, balding hair. I vowed that I would not allow that to happen again.I tried DermMatch just before my son's wedding and it was amazing. I felt like a million bucks - no matter the angle! Some things to know:It can be a little messy to apply. I have very fine, thin hair in a short style. When I put it on according to the directions, I have to brush and then "fluff" my hair with my hands. The brown coloring gets on my fingertips, but I don't care because my hair looks fantastic. I simply wash my hands with soap and a little manicure brush afterward and it comes right off. BUT, the color and added thickness on my hair does NOT come off.You will note that your hair feels like there is a product in it. It is almost like a mousse or gel feeling, but I don't care because it looks so good.On my dermatologist's advice, I only wash my hair once a week, but I wet it completely in the shower each morning. Most of the product stays in. I do a slight touch up application daily, but only apply heavily the day I shampoo. It amazes me that just water does not wash it out. I'm thrilled. I used it on vacation and swam in a chlorinated pool and a lake without any problem. There was NO evidence of a product in my hair when swimming. I was worried that "brown water" would be running off my head but there was NO problem at all. It stays in until you shampoo it out.It makes your hair look thick and full and also helps with coloring for me. I normally dye my hair every 4-5 weeks, but it looks brassy for the last 2 weeks. Now, the DermMatch keeps it looking nice and brown and I sometimes wait up to 6 weeks to dye again.I had read about someone using it for eyebrows too so I tried it. It works great and looks much more natural than the product I used to use. The only downside it that it doesn't stay on my eyebrows if I'm sweating outdoors or swimming. I use it when I'm going to be inside all day. If I need real sweat and waterproof eyebrows, I use my old product -- starts with W and it wunderful.I am thrilled with this product. I wish I had discovered it sooner, which is why I'm bothering to write such a detailed review. I would not hesitate to try this. It also appears my supply will last a LONG time. Thanks a million to DermMatch!

Pleasantly surprised. I really wasn't expecting to be.
I was REALLY apprehensive in buying this product for several reasons: 1) I've been using Toppik or XFusion for many years and have been pretty satisfied with the results and 2) the thought of painting in my scalp with what resembles boot creme polish really freaked me out as I didn't want my hair to look like John Travolta's very dark head at the Oscars. NOT A GOOD LOOK FOR ANYONE.I decided to give it a try for at least 2 solid weeks before writing a review. I am quite surprised to admit that I really like it!!! I think I like it better than Toppik or xFusion!! For those of you who are looking for something to hide your thinning hair or slightly exposed scalp, Toppik and xFusion are great products, but unfortunately, the dark brown has a blue hue, and the medium brown has a green hue. Under the wrong light, you can see a blue or green cast on your hair and/or scalp. I have to say I started feeling subconscious every time I would stand outside in bright daylight, as I thought it would be obvious, but it really didn't stop me from using those products as the alternative was a thinning hairline, and I wasn't okay with that.I first tried Dermmatch after I dried and styled my hair. I wet the applicator and went to town. I did have to pull my hairdryer out to dry my now dark wet roots, but the chalkiness of Dermmatch seemed to give my roots a little bit of a lift. An added bonus. I kept checking the back of my hair with a mirror to make sure the coverage didn't look as if I had a helmet on. I must say, the coverage was impressive. After experimenting with Dermmatch (dry applicator, damp applicator, added to dry hair, etc.) I've noticed I get the best coverage when my hair is wet and I've added my styling products to my hair. I side part my hair first, so I don't "paint" over my part, then I wet the applicator and add it to my slightly damp, product covered scalp and of course, I avoid the side part. As I "paint" in my head I use a natural bristle hairbrush to my wet head to break the solid spots on my scalp. So important you comb it out.Otherwise you'll have leopard spots that may be visible on the scalp. After I have covered every visible thinning spot, I style my hair the way I do everyday. I use a hair brush and hairdryer and it seems to distribute the color evenly throughout my scalp during this process without the leopard spots. The coverage is really natural looking. I can still see my scalp, but it looks like my hair is thicker than it actually is. I also don't worry about being in the wrong lighting anymore and I have stopped using Toppik or xFusion! The coverage is that good. 2 enthusiastic thumbs up.It does however get on your hands if you run your hand through your head. It is DEFINITELY NOT waterproof, so I would strongly recommend you stay away from pools and carry an umbrella with you if there's rain in the forecast. You will most definitely have dark streaks running down your face. It also rubs off on my pillow case. I don't mind it. Just changed my pillow cases from white to dark grey. Problem solved.

Best of the available options; but bald spots enhanced when combined with other products.
This is the best product that I have found, in over 6 years of trying different options. That doesn’t mean that it is perfect, but simply the best of the available options. As advertised, the small container does go a long way and lasts far longer than the shake-out type of hair fibers. It will not make completely bald spots look like natural hair, but does help create a good foundation for hiding the bald spot. I use it to cover my center bald spot and to thicken thinning, surrounding hair. To produce a more natural look, I do use it in combination with hair fibers, such as Topik. After using the Dermmatch, I spray a light coat of Topik fiber hold spray (as a mild glue), sprinkle hair fibers over the bald spot (to create texture), then apply a second light coat of fiber hold spray, to keep everything in place. The end result looks very natural.
