Q: Can you paint over it?

Yes, you can paint over it. I’m a novice and this was easy to use. Covered a really big hole very well. Good luck!

Q: I have a 15x19 patch to repair. Can I layer these to make it fit?

Layering them will be hard to do. You'd need to get a piece of 2x4 or other stable wood, and screw it mid way so that you have a base for the center to sit on. Otherwise it will just bow in, and not be secure at all.

Q: Can it be cut or trimmed ?

I didn't need to cut mine, but assuming it is made out of aluminum, it should be easy to cut with some tin snips, but you may need to sand down the edge once you've cut it. Tin snips tend to leave behind rough edges.

Q: Can the mesh be cut with regular scissors?

I cut them with regular scissors but I would never use a pair that need to remain really sharp. These patches worked well for me.
