Beware corroded batteries
Beware of buying this.The battery which was supplied with the torch corroded inside the torch within a few weeks and damaged the torch beyond repair. There are a huge number of videos on YouTube which depict this problem and it seems particularly prevalent with Maglite products - possibly the aluminium case sets off a reaction with battery.I have lost 2 Maglites to this problem and will not buy them again for this reason. I suggest you research this first before buying as Maglite refused to help when I contacted them and all I got was a brush off email.Maglite were the market leader in the 1980s and 1990s but were slow to adopt LED and CREE technology and I think still lag behind the market. There are better (and cheaper) alternatives for sale on Amazon.

Died in a month
It is a shame I have to say this, as this is easily my favorite and most reliable lights I have owned (black version). Hence the purchase of another one (blue version). It was only used for 5 minutes a few days after purchase, and then left in a pouch in a bag (normal dry and warm storage conditions in a bedroom). I took it out to use it in the field and noticed it did not turn on. I went to take the battery out and it had corroded itself into the housing and will not come out. I also noticed corrosion around the spring on the cap. I sadly missed the returns window by 2 weeks.I really wish this had been flawless as it ticks all the boxes for me but now I am put off by these altogether and cannot trust them to be reliable when I need them to be.

Sturdy, reliable and Bright!
A great little torch, near on indestructible, waterproof. Very bright. I've bought several of these things as I keep giving them to friends as gifts. As night shift workers they find these torches a great bit of extra security on a lanyard or keychain etc. Good job, maglite!

However it does give an excellent beam so does get 4 stars instead of 3 ... Now down to 1 star
Works ok but the spring in the bottom cap has come loose and needs to be adjusted at times for the torch to work. However it does give an excellent beam so does get 4 stars instead of 3 because of its power.....After a year it has given up and this is the second one that has gone the same way......

As you'd expect from Maglite, a high quality product.
As you'd expect from Maglite, a high quality product. The new LED versions are far better than the old incandescent bulb versions. They last longer and battery life is better. Maglite design is classic - nice finishing, high quality materials. tight tolerances and as such, represents very good value for money. Compact.
