The AM2315 I2C capacitive humidity sensing digital temperature and humidity sensor is contains a temperature and humidity combined sensor calibrated digital signal device. It uses special temperature and humidity acquisition technology, to ensure that the sensor has high reliability and excellent long-term stability. The sensor includes a capacitive sensor wet components and an integrated high-precision temperature measurement devices, and connected with a high-performance microprocessor. Also includes Grove connector.

Expecting better? Educate yourself and read the specs carefully
Temperature and humidity sensors aren't as accurate as you might think. This one is decent. It's accurate to a few percent under typical ambient conditions.Expecting better? Educate yourself and read the specs carefully.Still expecting better? Buy 10 sensors and average the results.

Great in theory; unreliable in practice
It stopped working just after the return period ended. This was the second of these devices that I used. The first device had a large number of mis-reads (bad CRC check); I bought the second one to see if I just got a bad unit. The second unit had mis-reads; but at a lower rate so I modified the read software to perform multiple samples until a good CRC was received (or a re-try count of 20). This fixed the problems with the second unit but it stopped reporting after about 6 weeks in an operational weather station and I have not been able to get it working again. It was kept out of the rain and direct exposure to weather with a LaCrosse sensor screen. It does not appear to have any weather-related damage or water intrusion at the sensor or connector. I will probably try again on the first unit; but after the failure of the second I went out and found other temp/humidity options. None are as buttoned-up as this one with the enclosure of the sensor, windscreen and built-in connector. I am testing the replacements for longevity now.

Solid sensor but get pull-up resistors
Great sensor, but doesn't seem to mention that you need to wire 2 10k ohm pull-up resistors inline on the edge of the harness for I2C to work. Keep this in mind and order the resistors with this sensor. Also, you cannot remap the I2C bus address with this, so you cannot use two simultaneously on the same i2c bus.

This thing was a huge pain to get working but since I have gotten it running it has never failed me and it seems super accurate, I would recommend using an array and then averaging out the values since the readings are sometimes inconsistent

SDL FTW!
Works great. nice to have the grove connectors already on it to forego adding. Switchdoc labs always provides quality products...

Looks tough but can't take a licking. The AM2315 looks robust but isn't. If it gets wet, it dies. Other than that, it works as advertised. I bought two from different vendors and they both worked beautifully initially but died after a few days in the moist spray of a garden mister. I'm currently evaluating the SHT31-D as a viable replacement--it's cheaper and I'll be using conformal coating as well as hot glue for waterproofing. The AM2315 gaskets do not keep out the wet and the unprotected AM2315 board corrodes quickly.
