Good product for bad situations
First, to other reviewers, there is no such thing as a magnifier this large for easy home use that is NOT a fresnel lens. So the concentric circle ridges are unavoidable. And you have to experiment to see how far you want to hold it from your eyes and from your reading material. We all wish there were a magic whole-page lens you could just put on the page and see it perfectly, but there is no such thing. That said, this is immensely helpful for the vision-impaired when you need a hands-free view of an area larger than a few lines of text. The LED lights are well-placed. The frame is plastic, but anything heavier wouldn't be good for wearing around the neck. It's a little hard to keep dust-free because of the ridges, but it is worth the trouble.

Meh...
Bought this for my mother. This is her review of the product:1) Plastic construction feels chintzy2) Lens has good magnification, but seems to have a negative charge which attracts all manners of dust.3) Lens has circular grooves on the underside which are difficult to clean.4) Distortion through lens is extreme.5) When worn around the neck, magnifier gets in the way turning pages, depending on the size of the material being read - not good for reading choral music, for example.Mom agrees that this is better than nothing, but she much prefers the little owl glass on a chain that we also bought from Amazon (it's not hands-free but she likes it better).

Buyer be careful
Item is usable but not very well made. Cheap hard plastic legs and clips to secure the legs when folded are very fragile and must be handled gently to avoid breakage. I purchased this for my 83 year old mother that has failing vision. In that respect the product will serve its function.

Well made, will work well for sewing, didn't work for card playing
Didn't do what we needed for playing cards.

good but still not fine enough for long reading spells
I bought the item because it said magnifying glass. Instead it was the same plastic optics used on the magnifying pages I see locally. The legs help some but I still found myself changing angles to get a clearer picture. I gave it four stars as with the legs you can use it for short stints of reading. Holding a sheet 4" away was impossible to do for more than a few pages. At least with this you can do a few chapters. I have learned 1 thing from this. Avoid omnibus books altogether. The savings in price is not worth straining your eyes to read. Until they develop zoom glasses this is the next best thing on physical books. Now on kindle you can merely change the size of the letters...shu

Great product!
I bought this for an 89 year old friend, who still holds down a job, requiring close work--he catalogues collectors' postage stamps.Unfortunately, his eyesight isn't what it used to be, so he wondered about a standing, page-size magnifier, similar to what hewould use in his employment as a cartographer years ago. This was the closest thing I could find, and he is happy with it! His"boss" says it's really helping him, too. Some of the reviews I had read online, regarding either this product, or something very similar, complained about its quality, performance, etc. But for the money, I think it's great, and with responsible usage, there is no reason why it shouldn't last. (No, you can't let your undisciplined child sit on it, stand on it, chew on it, etc. and expect it to survive.) I tested the opening and closing myself, installed the batteries for the light--which also works quite well--and believe that a conscientious person will get lots of use out of this.

Good purchase... sent in a TIMELY manner!
I liked it so much I got one as a gift. The legs could be made more sturdy, but it does so well in craft projects and so many things!

Simply squinting is better than using this Page Magnifier!
This magnifier is an example of misrepresentation on the part of vendor. It is advertised as a glass lens, but it is in fact cheap plastic with much optical distortion. Instead of making it easier on the eyes to read a page, it augments the strain. Furthermore, the magnifier is advertised as A4 full page, but it is actually much smaller. Even if the magnification were clear -- which it is not -- It is not possible to magnify the entire page all at once. You have to shift the magnifier down the page. I have notified the vendor for a return authorization. The vendor did respond quickly and courteously, but they require that I pay the return shipping , which they tell me will be reimbursed to me once they receive the returned item.
