Great for the advancing grappler
(Just so you understand my perspective ~ I've been grappling for 5 years, primarily no-gi submission wrestling, but I have a 4 stripe blue belt in BJJ. I am by no means an expert, but not a beginner.)This book is well written and creatively formatted, but not for the beginner. In my opinion, a grappler with at least year or two under his belt will get the most out of it. It's not so much a step-by-step collection of techniques, but more about building an overall game plan and attitude. I guess that's where they got the idea to write it like a pol/mil tactical handbook. There are few surprises or techniques that aren't available online, but what makes this book a good value for the intermediate BJJ/grapplng student comes from Camarillo's attacking plans that link together several submissions in one chain.Camarillo believes that you are a grappler, whether or not you choose to wear the gi --- so the book is a good mix of techniques for each discipline. In the end it's highly recommended, though not for everyone. For me, it will be my primary workbook for the next year or so.Cheers.

Real Instruction
I train jiu jitsu under one of Dave's black belts, so I knew I would be getting this book once it hit the shelves. I already had Dave's first book GUERRILLA JIU JITSU, BJ Penn's Closed Guard book, Saulo's JIU JITSU UNIVERSITY, and Andre Galvao's DRILL TO WIN. I knew that Dave would bring something new, but I didn't quite expect this. What this book has that every other book on the market lacks in comparison is a coherent guide to developing a grappling strategy. It guides the reader from start to finish---choosing a HUB, dveloping attacks from that position, learning to bait your opponent. Everything that this book shows is effective and useful in training. My one gripe is the layout. And it's not a huge gripe. The benefit of its current layout is that you get to see the entire sequence unbroken; the drawback is that it requires occasional page-flipping to read Dave's breakdown of what happens in conjunction with the images. It helps that what he considers to be the important images are copied next to his explanation at the appropriate place. So really, I just want it all--both the unbroken sequence and the fully reproduced sequence compelte with commentary a la JIU JITSU UNIVERSITY.All told, though, that's a miniscule problem with a generally fantastic manual. Forget points, forget tournaments. Use this book to win everywhere.

Great Instructional Book
This is a solid grappler's handbook. As others have stated, the important element this book will imbue is to stay offensive in BJJ - never stop attacking, off balancing, repositioning, etc. Retooling your mind set makes a world of difference. I noticed that I tended to allow my opponents to come to me, and I would be static in closed guard until they opened it, then I would attack from open guard. I realize now how much time and energy I was wasting. I move forward constantly now and keep my opponents defensively minded and susceptible to making errors. The only thing I don't like about the book is the "government docket" style of writing and design - (SUBJECT: Camarillo, David is attacking this and this") It makes for a bit of an annoyance but the information is still there, and still highly effective should you incorporate it into your game. Dave Camarillo knows his stuff, plain and simple.

Kevin howell does it again CRRAAAAACCCCKKKK
Kevin is a scholar of the game pure and simple.his three works on Brazilian jiu Jitsu are large and groundbreaking with every big name star he's written with so far.his first book gives the basics of the game, his book drill to win gives you the physical abilities to enhance your game with "disco moves" this book provides you with definite theory that the more you read it the more you realise how deep the rabbit hole go's ....I'm not an armbar guy so the set ups and the like for dave Camarillo's personal fire team are things I'll be playing with until the Leo Vieira book comes out .the theory in the book is set up to allow you to apply it to your own personal fire team to enhance your own attacking game.plus you get a new position to try out at least I've never seen it "octopus hub" .he make take a while to write them but I for one am glad he does when he produces masterpieces like JJU DTW and SUBUY THIS BOOK

Good for some semi advanced students
This book is not at all useful for people without a decent level of ability in BJJ (blue to purple,) What it is, Is Dave's personal armbar game, explained in great detail, but unfortunately using gimmicky 'armystyle' terminology. In short, great information for those who have a good positional base already, and want to explore their inner Ronda Rousey, and have the patience to ignore the way it 's written.

A book of concepts and combinations.
Good book. Outlines camerillo's strategies and concepts, particularly his submission chains. Not a beginner book as it assumes knowledge of submissions already. A sort of sequel to his first 'guerrilla' book, which was mainly throws. The only negative is it gimmicky 'secret file' concept.
