Awesomeness
My sharpei/boxer/lab/corgi mix has a long neck, wide at the bottom, very narrow at the top and his head is not much bigger around than the narrowest part. He has slipped every collar he's ever had on and also slipped harnesses by backing away and slipping his front legs out...and he's fast as a striking snake. I needed a collar that didn't have to be so tight he couldn't breathe and yet not slip over his head. I got this collar and loved the quality right away. It can be loose enough to rest at the bottom of his neck and yet draw just enough when he pulls on it to stop before he can slip the rest of his head out. Tonight he stuck his head in a hedge and a cat jumped out. He tried to chase it and then bucked like a horse trying to back out of the collar. He weighs 55 pounds and looked like a bucking bronco and pretty sure I looked like the cowboy getting tossed around holding on to the other end of the leash. My husband saw it and said it would have been a great video to show how great this collar works. If you get one be sure to measure the 3 places, just like the photos show and you'll get a perfect fit. It's adjustable and holds the adjustment and I really love the quick release. Be sure when you adjust it to the spot right behind the ears that the two rings just touch but don't overlap. It's perfect and I highly recommend it. Pricey but worth every single penny.

Keeps a dog with a small head SAFE from slipping out of its collar. Great quality. NOT a choke collar.
This well made collar is ideal for a dog whose head is not much bigger than its neck. If you are walking a dog with a small head and it stops while you continue forward, a standard collar can slip right over the dog's head. This collar is designed to be loose on the neck when the dog is not pulling on the leash. It snugs up when the dog pulls. When the collar is correctly adjusted, the chain pulls as the dog pulls. The chain stops pulling when the fabric ends of the collar touch. This great design limits the amount of pressure on the neck. But it keeps the collar snug enough to prevent a dog from slipping out of the collar. If your neighbors misunderstand the collar and think you have a choke collar I recommend the version of this collar without the quick release. This alternate version of the collar works in exactly the same way but the chain on the quick release collar is replaced with fabric on the collar without the quick release. Canine Equipment Technika 1-Inch All Webbing Martingale Dog Collar, Medium, BlackFor the small headed dog, another option is a harness. My neighbor's little dog wears a Puppia harness. It makes him safe and for some reason he really likes it and feels more relaxed.Puppia Soft Dog Harness, Red, Small

Strong, good looking and well made!
I have a 9 month old male Staffordshire who weighs 70 pounds already, he has to have his prong on most of the time but I wanted to find something heavy duty to use as his regular collar. This collar was awesome and exactly what I was looking for, It is wide, the chain is heavy duty, it is super well made and strong. The only issue I have for the moment is that it is about a half inch too big even when put as small as it goes but if I went down a size I couldn't get the same width and chain type. Since my boy is a pup his neck is rapidly expanding so no big deal, it just hangs a bit but I am sure not for long, lol. This is an excellent quality product and worth what I paid. I LOVE having the quick release!!

Overall it is a pretty nice collar
Overall it is a pretty nice collar. I got it for our 16 lb Boston terrier in X-small size. It is bright red color with silky texture, looks much nicer than in the picture. All the seams are hidden or on the outside, so they can't rub/ create soars. It is also very convenient to have a quick release buckle, our previous martingale collar didn't have one because our trainer told us that they usually break, but our dog is too small to break it and his other non-martingale collar with a buckle never broke so we figured it should be fine and it is. I gave this collar 4 starts, because first of all it has a big black-and-blue company label sewn on it so it takes up most of the red ribbon (it is not visible on the product picture since it is on the farthest side). It's not a big deal, but I thought the label could be smaller not to cover nice red color. Furthermore, the sizing chart is indeed misleading. It says that X-small measures from 8-12" which I would think means circumference of dog's neck. However, it is just the length of the fabric collar, not including the chain. When you add chain, it is bigger than these measurements. Our dog's neck is 12" and you can't tighten the collar any more for him (it's on its minimum possible length). It works for us (though it's a bit loose to my taste), but probably won't work for a dog with thinner neck, because then it will be hard to get a tangible correcting tightening effect when the dog pulls. I'd say 12" is probably minimum neck size this collar will work for.Overall, i'd like to mention that if you are planning to use this collar and want it to work right, you should consult with a trainer who will teach you how to use it properly to correct your dog and stop the pulling habit. Our dog was trained with a Martingale collar so this collar works for him. The idea is not to have it very tight and strangle your dog. In the process of training the dog learns that when he /she pulls, the chain starts to tighten and its links make clicking noises. Our trainer told us to stop after three clicks and wait until the dog makes a step back in order to get some slack. After a while the dog learns and knows the clicking noises and stops pulling when hearing them before the chain tightens further. This might be a confusing description, but my point is that the collar itself won't teach your dog not to pull:)
