Dakine Factor Laptop Backpack, 20-Liter, Portway

When I opened the package I was so worried that it was too small, so I decided to right then and there to take all of the books out of my bulky adidas backpack and shove them in here. This is a magic bag! They all fit! I should note that I am a college student and an English major at that. Dakine is an awesome brand. I put the most books that I carry in one given class day in there (1 large and 1 medium sized latin books, a couple thin latin volumes, an anthology, and two notebooks) and I am pretty sure that this backpack is bigger on the inside. It didn't ballon up or even really looked like it had that many books in it. Not only is it bigger on the inside, but it feels durable and light too. The weight distribution and padding is phenomenal. I feel like I could put my Macbook in there fairly safely as well. I don't usually carry my Macbook with me, but I might with this backpack! :DI will say that if you are carrying more than like 3 large books (like large chem books or really big anthologies to go up to a 25 Liter bag, but definitely stick with Dakine!).

I bought this as my commuter bag to/from work and home. I carry a laptop to/from work daily, so I was very interested in a comfortable bag. I am VERY pleased with this bag. I had previously had a Timbuk2 women's laptop bag (it was quite old - about 8 years). This has impressed me in terms of overall comfort, weight distribution and easy of use getting on and off crowded buses. I had to carry 2 laptops with me for several weeks and this bag handled two just fine. The interior is roomy, zippers are sturdy, and fit and shape are great. I highly recommend this product!

I really really like this backpack; a couple of small improvements would make it a definite 5 for me. I am going to upload some pics to illustrate, as I wish I'd known the exact configuration of pockets and such before ordering. I did a lot searching through backpacks before deciding on this one. For context, I am a Mom of two young boys and being able to load up on the many necessities we take when leaving the house, yet remain hands free to keep up with them, was my biggest draw in seeking out a backpack vs. other bag options. I initially wanted a convertible backpack, but in the end just couldn't find one with the right features for a price that was also good.What I love about this bag:*the two mesh side pockets that can hold my 27-oz water bottles with ease*the print and color options were nice--they didn't scream "I'm a Mom!" or "I'm a student!" to me; just some nice stylish options*the fleece lined pockets (2 in the small front pocket, and sunglasses pocket at the top of the bag)*great size for me; not so big as to be unwieldy, not so small that it would limit usesSmall improvements that I would have loved to see that would have made this a 5-star bag for me:*a key fob in the front zipper pocket would have been nice (as it is, I attached a small caribeener to the interior zipper to quickly clip my key to)*a snap or magnet closure on the very font open pocket would have been nice! (See second picture) Heck, fleece line that and add a snap/magnet closure and it would be great for a phone. As it is, I am not really sure how much use that pocket will be to me, being completely open.*I do wish the 2 fleece lined pockets in the front zippered area were a tad bigger. My iPhone 5s with a pong cover barely slides into the outside fleece lined pocket; from what I hear the next generation phones are bigger yet and therefore definitely won't fit.*Maybe one or two more separate pockets for organization would be wonderful. For instance, the front zipper pocket is quite deep, it would be nice to have another lower pocket maybe for organizing; or maybe another pocket on the largest compartment (which is open except for the padded divider for a laptop).Overall, I am super happy with this purchase. Good price point, nice style, not too huge (I'm about 5'3" and didn't want a monster bag by any stretch, even though I often am carrying quite a bit), seems comfortable from what use I've had so far. Can't wait for spring and summer when this bag will get a real workout on family outings. Oh and also a Mom of multiple dogs, think it will be good for outings with them as well, keeping extra treats and necessities in the bag and being hands free to manage the poochies. =)

Great style and silvery teal color with nice pockets and organization. The 20L size really wasn't enough for my college requirements of laptop, cord, wallet, text book, notebook, snacks/lunch, and water bottle.The main issue with this bag was the straps. I'm 5'9'' with granted, a larger build, but my skinny 5'2'' friend found it uncomfortable on her shoulders also. The straps cut in oddly and seem to be designed incorrectly somehow. Unfortunate because otherwise would be a great smaller sized bag. Returned.

This bag is perfect. It comes exactly as described even the color is a perfect match! The accessory pocket is great for an iPod/MP3 player or two phones with 2 pen slots or small screw drivers. The zipped portion of the accessory pocket is great for headphones and chargers and on top of that,there is room to spare. The two outside mesh pockets actually hold your water bottles or coffee travel mugs without having to worry of them ripping out. The elastic is secure. The main compartment at first glance is disappointing and you think it's too small. But that is the complete opposite the main compartment is the perfect size for your laptop (I have a MacBook Pro) and its chargers along with textbooks or clothes or in my case sometimes dog gear or camping supplies. The sunglasses pouch fits my ray ban wayfarers very nicely and the small front vertical zip pocket has way more space than you'd expect I can keep my wallet, phone, hand sanitizer, pens, and calculator with room to spare for smaller items!I am very happy with this bag and would reccommed it to the commuter, the traveler, the student, the day hiker, the dog walker, the daytime nanny! It is great and comes in many nice looking colors!

Great commuter backpack. I take the train 5 days a week and the slim design makes it easy to walk the narrow isle between the seats and I don't have to worry if I accidentally hit someone if I turn. Good size so that I have enough room to fit what I need and I'm not tempted to overstuff it. Very sturdy material that I'm confident my laptop is safe inside.
