Q: is there a way for me to buy a new cord? i noticed that the cord that it came with seemed specially fit for mouse and i wanted to get a spare

I thought the same thing too! The cord head with the USB micro side is specifically designed for this. There's some that fit, but not without force. Contact Dell service they may be able to help you.

Q: Can I use this as Just a regular everyday office mouse ?

Yes, this mouse could be used for regular day to day office purpose.

Q: No instructions with the mouse. what is the little plastic piece it came with. 2” in length with a usb end.. (not the imbedded dongle)

It is the USB dongle, plugged in to the system to connect the mouse wirelessly to the system.

should work with any windows computer since it is both wired with usb connector and wireless.
