Best. Wheel. Ever.
From the outset, I’ll admit that I’ve probably bought way more than my fair share of hamster wheels... I planned to adopt another dwarf hamster after my last little girl passed away. I was thinking about how tiny the dwarfs tend to be when they first come home, so I thought I’d buy yet another of the super small wheels for her to run on for a few weeks before she outgrew it. Then, I knew I’d have to buy yet another of the $10. “standard” wheels at that time. The standard wheels don’t seem to work reliably after a few months and I invariably have to replace them. I decided to shop around this time and discovered this wheel. I was impressed that Robo owners seemed to like this wheel very much, despite its large size. They said it was a high quality product and was well-balanced. I knew it would have to be in order for the teeny, tiny Robos to be able to use them. This wheel, at 9 inches, is much larger than the 6” standard wheels I had been buying over and over again for my hamsters when they grew to adult size. This wheel costs three times as much as the usual wheels - and I believe it to be worth every penny. My new little dwarf loves it. The wheel seems ENORMOUS next to her, but it performed as promised - she had no issue getting the wheel going. Now, I won’t have to upgrade to an adult wheel for her because she already has it. The wheel is super quiet and easy to clean. I was happy to pay the extra cost upfront to know that I’d have a wheel that she would enjoy and that I wouldn’t feel like I needed to constantly check to see if it was still working from day to day. The quality of this wheel is apparent from the moment you see it and take it in hand. It’s heavier than the cheaper wheels, but again, so well balanced that it hardly matters. The wheel track seems more stable and safer, too. I’m enormously pleased with this item - for myself and my new little girl. I wish that there were more products for hamsters available with such build quality. I would estimate that I was buying three standard wheels per hamster, one for size at the time of adoption and two from breakdowns of the product. I was never quite satisfied with the other wheels or felt as if I could trust the product to stay in working order. I can’t say that this wheel will last indefinitely, but I tend to believe it will. If I ever have a need for another, I’ll buy this exact wheel again, no questions asked.

Matilda loves it
My Syrian hamster Matilda LOVES her Silent Runner! It's been years since I've had a Syrian hamster so you can imagine my surprise when I did some investigating upon bringing her home and learned about BIN CAGES! And proper sized wheels!! A bit on that for those not in the know. Hamsters require excersize and often run 5 miles a night in the wild. They also need a surface for running that allows them to run with their bodies being straight, no curvature of their back or head as that can lead to back, neck problems, just as it would a person. It took me a week to get her out of her craptrail cage and into a bin cage, during that time we waited out the arrival of her Silent Runner. I was worried the 9 inch would be too small as she grew, I had no way of figuring out of she was full grown or not yet. I'm assuming she's close to being full grown as she was already hitting heat cycles when I brought her home and I've had her for 5 weeks now so she's close. I opted for THIS Silent Runner wheel because I LOVED the sturdy base, I liked that it was a nice solid arm with a flat base. I compared it to their competitors and just felt this was the best choice that the others seemed flimsy or problematic. It's the perfect size for Matilda as well as her bin cage. I tried going up a size but the 12 inch arrived not on it's base and that wouldn't have fit in the bin cage set up so I didn't bother attaching the base to try it out. The Silent Runner is actually very quiet, I don't notice any squeaking or anything. You can adjust things if it's more wobbly and making noise to get it to stop. It's easy to take apart and wash out and reassemble. I'd recommend simple soap and water and drying it all right away. The inside of the running surface is slightly "sandy" feeling but in a way that provides a nice surface for your hamster to grip while running like crazy. Matilda spends hours on her SIlent Runner all night every night. She naps in it between bursts of running, she naps outside of it between bursts of running. She LOVES this wheel. She had previously been offered a few different wheels and running surfaces but this has by far gotten the most use and become her preferred excercise outlet. With all this said I highly recommend this Silent Runner! If you think it's too pricey or that any properly sized running surface is too expensive for a hamster, DO NOT GET A HAMSTER. If you can't give them what they need they are not the pet for you.

Expensive wheel but best wheel on the market
This should have been the first wheel I brought from the very beginning. I have wasted so much money on wheels for my daughter's hamster. The comfort wheels are noisy but it never bother us. The 8" wheel still works but I was concerned it was a tad bit too small for my daughter's Syrian. I purchased a 12" wheel but it's too tall to snap the lid on for our DIY hamster storage bin. I then purchased the Kaytee 10" silent spinner but there is definitely a worksman issue with the wheel. It falls apart and wheel wobbles. The comfort wheel was better than this but I dont believe those wheels come in an 9 or 10" size. I have also purchased a saucer but my daughter's hamster didn't seem to care for it. This silent runner is very study and super quiet. We never hear her running although when I check on her most nights she's there on her wheel. This wheel is more expensive but certainly worth it.

I attached the 9" wheel to the side of a plastic bin cage I made for our long-haired Syrian hamster (I had drilled a hole through the plastic bin for the bolt to go through). He seems pretty happy in it. He does not arch his back, when he's running in this wheel. In between his runs, he sometimes takes mini naps or cleans himself while still in it. The wheel is fairly quiet. It doesn't disturb us at night. Initially, the wheel seemed to wobble/vibrate and make a slight noise but it stopped, after I tightened the bolt for the wheel. Adjusting the bolt is difficult though because it's inside the wheel. You'll need a way to get your hand or a clamp/pliers inside the wheel to hold the bolt still, while you tighten the nut on the other side. The wheel wobbling might not be an issue, if you use the stand or attach the wheel to a metal bar cage instead. Also, for cleaning, it's difficult to put your hand inside, if you want to just quickly wipe it down. You may need a long-handled brush instead. It requires more effort if it is attached to the side of a cage. If it's just on its stand, you can easily take it out to rinse with water and dry. This wheel seems suitable for a Syrian hamster. It's unfortunate that I can't find this on sale in any stores in Canada.

I chose this product over other brands due to the fact it had an exposed bolt and no central disk covering the bolt like some other brands do. It is what set it apart for me as I have mice with tails and do not want them to get stuck behind a disc. They are still a great wheel but I cannot take the risk of this happening to my furry friends. I will be taking my latest purchase to the hardware store to replace the disc with a nut and bolt as per the previous design. It's a shame a unique product is now the same as every other superior wheel on the market but it won't stop me buying them if I can just get a bolt from the hardware store.

Love this wheel. The regular size was just a little too small for my average size hamster, but try to find a 9 inch wheel that doesn't squeek like nails on a chalkboard! After a great deal of looking, and putting my hamster back in her (too small) wheel just to be able to sleep at night, I finally found this wheel and absolutely love it. So does she, judging by how long she runs in it through the night. Very sturdy attachment to the cage; also comes with a solid metal stand but my hamster had it moved around her cage so I attached it to the side and it works beautifully. You do need to tighten it occasionally (I usually check it when I clean her cage). Little bit tough to clean as the side is sort of blocked off, but I will gladly take that small inconvenince for a wheel that is perfect in every other way. Bit pricey, but since I never have to replace it, well worth it!

So far, after a month I have some things to say. Immediately I was surprised about the size of it, and it was a little hard to assemble but I had looking up how to assemble before hand so that helped some! I do have to say Muffin LOVES it a lot and her back is flat when she runs! So far I have gone through 12 different wheels so I'm hoping this is my last one. Pro's: - mostly silent (refer to cons) - sturdy - I love how you can completely disassemble it to clean and deep clean - easy to understand instructions (once you get them off!) - textured track for good grip Cons: - my wheel seems to have a slight defect where it seems one spot is more Squarish and so it does make a little noise - hard to pull apart, if you have any problems with your hands I wouldn't recommend it - instructions to disassemble are on the inside of the wheel - wobbles some but not as bad as my others. All in all, it IS worth it if you can get past the cons!
