Heat Wave is the best brand of hand warmers on the market. Not too big; great for shoulders
When you are looking for hand warmers, you'll get presented with a number of different options. Let me tell you right away--steer clear from the "disposable" hand warmer packs. I honestly never used them again after getting these reusable hand warmers. The key is to choose the right size for yourself! THE GOOD: -Heat Wave makes the best hand warmers that I have yet found on the market, and I have tried a good number! The quality of the plastic is KEY. Lesser plastics (clear or thin ones) are all over the market, but those are more likely to rupture as you're using them and even when you are boiling them to "reset." -These retain their heat very, very well. According to my experiment, these quickly got up to a temperature of 130 degrees F and held it there for about 20 minutes. 25 with lots of moving around. -These are a great size to hold in your hand. This adds an added benefit of making them easier to move around and agitate the crystals inside. More agitation means more and longer heat! The OKAY: -These are expensive. That's not a bad thing when it directly goes into a better, longer lasting product. -Every 4 or 5 of these seems to be an oddball pack that still does its job, but it takes a bit longer to "reset" when boiling, it doesn't stay as malleable, and doesn't hold its heat as long The BAD: -Even these, the best brand I have found of hand warmers, can break after repeated use. In general, I am able to get about two years of weekly use out of them before they risk breakage. That comes out to about 100 uses before failure, which is not bad but certainly not perfect -Not energy efficient. Yes, you get free/repeatable heat, but you have to boil water for 20 minutes every time you want to reset them. It's worth getting 4 or 5 of these so that you can batch the boils, but that's still a considerable amount of heat and energy that goes into them. All-in-all, this is the best brand of reusable hand warmers, and a pretty good size to boot. It's still small enough that you can agitate it and keep the heat going longer, but not TOO large. I have purchased these multiple times, and the vast majority of them retain their heat, flexibility, and use for years on end. 4.5 stars!

amazing product
These work amazing. It provides a comfortable, moist heat that works well for joint pain. They are completely reusable and work the same every time used. I like how portable they are and that they can be used and reset while camping. I would love to be able to afford to buy more so I wouldn't have to boil daily. n If perfection existed these are things I wish could improve: - they would stay hot much longer. I get about 10 minutes of steady heat before they start getting cold - they would not take so long to reset. It takes a full 30 minutes-20 minutes of hard boiling water followed by 10 minutes of simmer - the disks would be slightly easier to activate

These things are like magic, and perfect in the winter.
I've had to tell my friends about these, because they're amazing. I've had mine for a couple months now, and because it seems like some people have had hit or miss experiences, I waited to see how it would hold up before reviewing. First, these are just super cool to activate: push the button and then you get heat! Then apply over a cloth or something to ensure you don't overheat the skin. It lasts at least a good 45 minutes. I always fall asleep, so I'm not sure exactly how long it lasts. Sometimes I use it for a particular area (I have lower back pain and tight IT bands), but in the winter I more use it to warm up my bed like a hot water bottle, before getting in. Yes, the returning it to its "liquid" state can be annoying, but I don't mind. It actually gives me two uses out of the heating pack. I put it in the boiling water, and based on some of the reviews, I try not to let it just sit against the bottom of the pan where it might melt. As it boils, I occasionally lift to check all the crystals are dissolved. Once everything is liquid again, I carefully set it on a dry dish towel and pat it dry. If I'm going to be using the heating pad that night, I'll then carefully put it in my bed between the comforter and the top sheet (so I don't burn myself). Then it warms the bed while I finish my nightly rituals. The pack WON'T activate if it's too warm, but I can use the heat of the boiling process that first night, and then activate it the second night. Then it's pretty much two uses per time. I'll probably check out the other sizes as well and decide if I want to get another one. In the larger size.

Defective Heat Pack
We had a similar product made by another company that worked for six years. I found this item. After the second use , the contents leaked out of a side seam and ruined towels to clean up the stovetop. The towels became hard . The debris did not completely come off the glass cooktop a d it ruined a pot too.

Good But Didn't Last Long Enough!
This is a great product. I have ordered several different shapes and sizes. I use it everyday for extreme pain especially to help me go to sleep at night. HOWEVER, the last one I bought on January 16, 2025, just sprung a leak - after using it a maximum of 100 times (once a day). Seems to me if it's going to last such a short duration, the price should be lower.

Convenient and reusable
I needed something that I could take on the go for my monthly cramps. I saw this demonstrated at the LA wine fest a few years ago and couldn't get it out of my mind, don't know why it took me so long to just get it. It stays hot for about 20 to 30 minutes as people say and I even use it to help keep food hot for when I'm going on a picnic or something. The best feature is that it doesn't have to be plugged in, it is an independently working product that just uses a chemical reaction to heat up. I needed something that I did not need to plug in and prefer anything that is reusable always. Boiling this item is so easy, I don't know if the people who had difficulty just weren't following the instructions properly, we're not adding enough water and just letting it go, or got defective products but I've been reboiling mine / reusing mine endlessly and I have not had any issues. I went with this brand again because it is something that I Saw demonstrated in person and thought I would try an option with a brand I trusted. I recommend it for people who need to use heat packs frequently. Again I'm going to repeat the tip I provided above of using this heat pack for when you have to keep food hot! It's pretty awesome.

perfect size, eco-friendly
Design: Love that it’s foldable, so it can get pretty compact. it’s easy to transport and put in your backpack. Functionality: I think it’s overall a great idea to reuse a heat pack. It gets pretty warm, so I plan on using it to keep my food warm. Really easy to activate and reuse you just have to put it in boiling water and it’s good to go again. It’s eco-friendly too! I got the one pack, but I think getting the 2-pack would have been better!

Excellent product for emergency heat need!
Due to an issue with my knee, I occasionally need immediate heat during the night. I wanted something that heated quickly and easily, and the Heat Wave Instant Heat Pack came to the rescue! I was so impressed that I bought two more just in case I needed to use more than one on any given night. SUGGESTION: At first, I was reactivating the packs in a small pot with a towel underneath the heat pack to prevent damage from the heat. However, I recently purchased a Cuisinart Preferred Pan 4-Pc Set on Amazon, which includes a deep steamer insert. This morning I used this pan with its steamer insert to reactivate a heat pack, which worked out wonderfully and avoided any potential heat damage.
