Scholastic Counting Caddie and Place Value Pocket Chart

I have utilized this time in my classroom. The plastic is durable and easy to see through. The item was in pristine condition when I received it. The size could be a little bigger for my kiddos, however, it was user-friendly.

I have been using this chart for 5 years in my second grade classroom. It is really a quality product and still looks very nice on my wall. I hang it with removable 3M hooks and it hangs just fine. The extra straws fit well in the extra pouch, but not all at once. I put a handful in there at a time and then when it runs low, I add more. We use this for how long we have been in school and it is even easy for my students to use. You have to provide your own rubber bands to make bundles. The numbers and words are easy to read and they have lasted this long without laminating or altering in any way. I would recommend this for any classroom!

I laminated my numbers and words immediately with my little Scotch Laminator. Then I cut the numbers and words out with my little Martha Stewart paper cutter (from scrap booking) to make nice straight lines. The straws look just like the straws you stir coffee with- maybe slightly bigger, but if you loose straws then just buy regular or coffee straws. The pouch is smaller but holds your extra straws and numbers. The dimensions make it just right for a smaller space on the wall. Has no problem hanging with smaller thumb tacks. I might make a second set of words and numbers so people can see from across the room easier- but the size it comes with is fine too.

It’s a great price and serves its purpose. I use it everyday to keep count of the days we are in school. It also helps young students to learn about ones, tens, and ones.

The project seems good quality. However, the place value counters are thin plastic coffee stir straws - Just taller. I was thinking they would be sturdier as the picture isn't really clear. I can use it for a center group/circle time. It probably is not hard to replicate this item at home for less money.
