How to Handle Fianchetto Bishops
Book gives you plans on how to handle positions with a fianchetto bishop. Good games with good explanations. Anyone playing fianchetto positions can learn from this book.

Not my comfort zone.
I'm not really sure what to think of this book.I like it but I don't. Let me try to explain.Playing 1.g3 or 1...g6 is a bit like knowing how to play every opening.Essentially, as white, the author recommends the Kings Indian Attack or the Reversed Pirc. The first has punch but is toothless against someone who knows the ropes. The Pirc (for black) is a notorious for being a difficult opening to play (read survive playing). That might be harsh on the Pirc... but the willingness to let the opponent own the center for the beginning through the middle of the game takes a lot of nerve. For Black the recommendation is basically the Modern Defense against 1.e4 and the King's Indian Defense against 1.d4. If your opponent plays the English/London then something like the Hedgehog. This is another attempt at "play this against everything." There are some interesting books out there with more solid (read less stressful). For instance Lakdawala has books on playing 1...d6 and 1...c6. The idea (in the 1...c6 book) is to play the ultra solid Caro-Kan against 1.e4 and the super solid, yet psycho, Slav Defense against 1.d4. It might be a tad on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde but building a repertoire on the strong point strategy works to save study time. Turn it around and you can play the Colle/London complex. So having one idea, the fianchetto system, will save some time... but you have to ask yourself if this is a comfortable way for you to go. Most of us start out with something in the center like 1.e4 or 1.d4. Some eventually migrate to other idea... maybe out of boredom, maybe just being tired of loosing. So if you don't really understand the ideas behind what you are playing (symptom: coming out of the opening and then deciding on a plan) and want to simplify, then maybe this is the opening/book for you.If you get "black is better" without further explanation or lines then this book might be for you. In other words, I would not recommend this for beginners and maybe it might be beyond "average" tournament players (who will not put the work into it). The book does give examples of common motifs but that's just it. An example or two.Repertoire books sometimes confuse the reader with choices. If A then you can play Q, R, Z, M, etc... Neiman and Shoker keep those to a minimum so you will have to stay on top of the lines incase one gets "busted."This book is pretty much a discussion starter for someone willing will to put the work into if.

An Absolute Waste!!!
Solution? To what problem? It's a manual on The Modern Defense and King's Indian Attack. Theoretically confusing with no practical value. This one is among the worst in a world filled with lousy chess books!

Great Opening Repertoire Book
"The Fianchetto Solution" is an opening repertoire book that stands out. What convinces me:- A repertoire that is consistent and can be used as Black and as White (for Black: Kings Indian Defence / Modern / Pirc; for White: Kings Indian Attack, only rare deviations of that scheme)- Good explanations instead of tons of Variations, understandable for the average club player and the ambitionned patzer.- They don't sell you "dangerous weapon" that kills 'em all, but a solid repertoire. In the focus are playable, non-dry positions.- A book that was obviously written with passion, it reminds me of "Pirc Alert! (Alburt, Chernev) which is probably the best opening book.- Good exemplification of returning structures and motives, and not to forget the perils.- Illustrative games and exercises.- The authors complement one another (solid vs. adventurous) and sometimes when they disagree on a continuation they offer two variations, one solid and one intricate. The only shortcoming of the book is that the part with the repertoire for white is a bit short. The authors point out that, when you know the "black part" of the repertoire (motivs, structures) , you can "transfer" it to the white side. That is surely the case, however as a chess player with average (or maybe mediocre) skills, I would have appreciated some more explanations/examples regarding that.A more detailed table of contents would have helped me, too.I give the book 4 and a half star with a clear conscience, and I can hardly put it aside.

A good book on a not so common chess subject.
If you read and study this book, and then decide that you may not actually be comfortable with this opening, your time, I suggest, would not have been wasted. On the other hand, I would encourage all chess students to give this opening, at least, an occasional try.Reading and studying this book for me was time well spent (My ELO is +2000).The title of this book could also be called "A Deep Introduction to Fianchetto Positions." Most chess student, who are deficient in their knowledge on this topic, would find this book's study to be of benefit. The only draw back for some advanced chess players is if you are looking for some type of encyclopedic tree of variations on various fianchetto openings, this book will not offer such material to you, since the book's purpose, in my opinion, is of higher value, and that is to cover and explorer it's very interesting fianchetto topic.Finally. my Kindle reader worked just fine with this ebook.

Do NOT buy the eBook Version!!
The Kindle version downloaded WITHOUT the proper notation (pieces are not designated in the algebraic notation). I downloaded it to my Amazon Fire and my Android Smartpone with the same poor results. And returning this eBook has been a very frustrating experience as I have not been able to work my way through it yet.

Great book for the super engine era
This is an amazing under rated book. The lines provided stood the test of time. With all the repertoires nowadays so computer generated, fianchetto structures are still difficult for engines to evaluate.I highly recommend this to everyone who needs to try out a different approach. It helps your opening, middle game even all the way to the endgame if you go over the model games

A practical guide to fianchetto with both colors
This is a great book to discover new opening ideas and learn tactics associated with fianchetto openings, but i could not use it as a repertory book, because variations and move orders are not exposed in an orderly manner. The suggested repertoire is not complete, far from solid, but very practical.
