MidWest Foldable Exercise Pen

We do a lot of traveling in our RV and our dogs like to be outside with us whenever we sit to watch the sunset or the sunrise. We don’t like to keep them on the leash because they like to roam around and sniff things. We purchased three of these Wonderful pens and set them up so that they would have adequate room to run around and sniff the grass while getting their daily exercise. We recently went to Maryland for Easter and our dogs desperately wanted to go outside a lot more than we wanted to walk them. We set up the pen in a protected area and they absolutely loved it. The dogs were happy outside. They had plenty of room to run around. Since we have the miniature dachshunds we decided to get the 4 foot height. The quality of the pen and the material is very sturdy and very safe for our dogs to be in without worry of them pushing it over. Each pen comes with pins that you can push into the soil to make it even more sturdy into the ground. It was a very good price, very inexpensive so the value for the money was top of the line. We’re very happy and if you are one to go camping or you want to put your puppies outside to play in the grass and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, I highly recommend these pens. They’re safe easy to set up and they store almost into completely nothing. They fold up flat and fit in a small storage space. Here at home we have a pen set up for our dogs to run in while we sit on our patio and they enjoy it greatly.

This is a great size for my papillion puppy. Plenty of room for her bed, litter box, food dishes, and still room to play. It keeps her safe and contained when I need to be gone or just need a puppy break. A treat entices her to enter on her own and toys keep her happy inside. I also bought the square mesh top thinking it would keep her inside in case she tried to climb out but it has not been needed again as she is content inside. Well made and sturdy. The height makes it easy to step into and do cleaning tasks. The gate works great and I use a doubled ended clip to clip it open so she can easily go inside for water or litter box. I am very happy with this xpen and so is my puppy.

Recently purchased a new home and have been trying to decide what to do with my 8yr old Pit w/SEVERE separation anxiety when I need to leave the house. He was never crated trained as a puppy (he was a stray who was hit by a car and was a year old by the time I rescued him) and has NEVER liked his kennel. In the summer months he goes to my mom's when I leave for work but with winter approaching I needed a better option. I ordered the tallest pen available and as you can see it is MUCH larger than my dog - side note my dog is super short. But i plan to foster and adopt more large breed dogs so it seemed like the best use of my money. The panels come already connected and it stands straight up right out of the box. One thing I do have to note is I do have it upside down. I took it out of the box that way and did not notice until I already had it attached to my dog's kennel and at that point I was too lazy to change it. It stands straight up by itself (again, I have it upside down so just keep that in mind) but I attached it to my dog's kennel (which is Top Paw brand - this will connect to ANY metal kennel) for extra stability. My dog has arthritis in one rear leg and a bad hip on the other side so he is not a jumper or climber in any way but he is a bully and will push & knock things over to get where he wants to be. I can definitely say with it attached to the kennel there is no way he can knock it over. Also, he has pushed the panels pretty hard and they do not fall over or cave in so I'm not worried about them collapsing on him if he get's too rambunctious. I have it attached to the open kennel door just to give him as much space as possible (also please know he is left with a bed, blankets, pee pads and toys - not just the few things you see him with in the photos. These were taken right after assembly.) and it is still very sturdy. My dog is a chewer. He has chewed through ceramic dog bowls, blankets, towels, bras and the kennel you see in the photos. The kennel is the only thing that has stood the test of time (I purchased it right before I brought him home 7 years ago) and even it is separated in certain areas or caved in due to him trying to chew his way out. I'm not really worried about that with the pen. He has chewed through all the pee pads I've left him with but the pen has stayed intact so far. The pen does not come with "stabilizers" like I've seen with some others but I didn't have a problem keeping it upright. It comes with stakes to be used in the ground if you're using it outside. If you're opting for indoor use and have hardwood floors, like me, I have not seen any scratches or damage to my flooring even with my dog constantly pushing and moving the panels around. (My floors are actual hardwood, not laminate - if that makes a difference.) This pen also doubles as a great makeshift gate. I have a very large yard and can easily gate off sections I don't want him getting into or place it at the bottom of the porch stairs (there are only two stairs, I am not worried about him falling down) to keep him out with me without a leash. This was a pretty decent price so I'm very happy with my purchase!

I Bought 2 of these for my dogs 14 pups. She had a very large litter. This helped me get them all raised to find happy homes for them all. It was wonderful, cheap, and sturdy enough to handle the job.

I own several of these (36"). Can't fault them for my poms and long hair chihuahuas. Though I do have a pom who can climb these with little to no problem.... so he goes into a run with a top on it. I've read a couple of reviews about people wanting to use these for larger breed dogs and they aren't going to hold up to the weight of large breeds without toppling over or being pushed about. At least ones that aren't well behaved. If you show dogs that are well behaved then you should be able to put them out into the taller pens to do their business, but to leave them in without keeping a eye on them, then you may be tempting fate. If we go on a trip I can simply fold it up, lay it in the bottom of the van or trunk and stack everything else on top of it with no damage to it. So being able to flat pack is nice. The black ones will rust if left outside for extended periods of time in the weather. I left one out for a year as a divider for a much larger permanent kennel run and it did rust, however it still works fine and if I get 3-4yrs out of it in total then I look at it as a 10-15.00 year investment. I've not tried the zinc version outside yet, though I did just purchase one, so we'll find out. If it last 4-5 years then the savings really are about the same since it is at a higher cost. If you have pups and this is why you are looking at these pens, think ahead about the height you need for a full size dog for your breed. Sure you can by a shorter one for a few dollars less which will work with pups, but if you plan to keep any of the pups or even keep your own adult dogs in it later down the road, the taller the better. As you never know how athletic those pups are going to get, especially if one is a climber and becomes a escape artist and the others learn and follow suit. You'll want to put a border around the bottom if you have a litter of small breed pups as they can (and will) stick their heads through the bars and get stuck. A simple fix to that is a cheap roll of chicken wire that is a foot high or so, just put that on the inside to create a border and zip tie it to the pen. Once they are big enough so that their heads don't fit though the bars anymore you can roll the chicken wire up and use it down the road again if you need to. A litter of poms we just had could get their heads through the bars up to 3wks of age. Mind you it's not something they do on purpose at that age.. they just wiggle and squirm their way out of the crate bottom/ whelping box and into the main pen area and it happens. At 4wks when they start toddling about more they run their heads into the bars, but no longer between them. I've clipped several of these together to create a much larger run for 6-7 poms. To help give support over the longer length of the sides I simply zig-zag it in a couple of sections to give it added support to keep it from toppling over if they all decide to run to one section and jump on it as to greet someone or bark at something. The clips that come with it are so-so. They are ok if you plan to put the pen together and not undoing them constantly. But overtime they are going to wear out and they aren't exactly rust proof so rain and morning dew does cause them rust and corrode up making their small size just that much more difficult to open/close. I bought some better ones that are easier to grasp. The rods that come with the runs to help hold them down to the ground are suitable, but over time they are going to bend and wear if you use them much. They aren't made out of the thickest of metal stock, so they can and will bend if trying to force them into hard ground or hit a rock. My suggestion if you are traveling or plan to put the pen down on hard ground for extended periods of time, metal tent stakes. Plastic ones become chew points.

Wish it was bigger but other than that it’s fine for what I need it for. My Cocker Spaniel is old and half blind and deaf. It’s not safe for him to roam the yard in his condition, so I put him in this to use the restroom. I may get another one to add on to make it bigger. This size is small. It was easy to set up and anchor in the ground. I move it every few days because he won’t pee in the same place for a long time. The stakes are easy to put in and pull out. Quality seems good. I’ve had no issues so far.
