Your brain is being hijacked. And you feel it every day. You sit down to do the one thing that actually matters. But within minutes, you're somewhere else entirely. You’re scrolling your newsfeed, checking messages, or switching to a less important task. It’s not because you're lazy. It’s because your brain has been rewired to crave instant stimulation. This isn't a willpower problem. It's a stimulation problem. Bestselling author Thibaut Meurisse explains why your reward system has been hijacked and gives you a simple method to take back control in 48 hours or less. In Dopamine Detox , you’ll discover: What dopamine is and why it’s working against you How overstimulation creates an invisible barrier between you and your most important work The 4 tricks your mind plays to distract you A 3-step method to lower stimulation and get back to work Simple habits to prevent relapse and stay focused long term You don't need more discipline. You need less stimulation. This book shows you how to get there. In 48 hours, the work that feels impossible today will feel manageable tomorrow. Review: Simple, practical and eye-opening - I read this book in just two nights, and it genuinely changed the way I look at my relationship with social media and constant stimulation. After finishing it, I disconnected my TikTok account and have only gone on YouTube or Instagram two or three times when I actually needed something. The book is simple and easy to read, but the message is extremely practical, especially today when we are constantly surrounded by information, notifications, and so much anxiety. It made me realize how important it is to allow ourselves to be bored—to literally do nothing sometimes—without immediately reaching for a phone or looking for something to stimulate us. For me, reading this book was like opening my eyes to how much constant stimulation had become part of everyday life. Definitely worth reading. Review: Short Read, What I Needed - This book doesn't do much more than give an introduction to the subject, but it was still what I needed right now. At 62 pages, it was around an hour-long read, which I needed. While I learned (on my own) how to deal with the repercussions of being online and hardened myself to being inundated by things vying for my attention, I am realizing that others are still dealing with this in their own way and might not be as far on their journey as I am. They are more susceptible to its affects. I remember when we used to say we needed to "unplug" for a bit. Looking back, there were some serious repercussions to the dopamine affect that I didn't understand and didn't have the language to discuss what was happening to me. Like a caveman with fire, I learned the hard way the good and bad affects of fire (the internet being the caveman's fire). I spent some serious cash uncontrollably online, for instance, until I learned how to deal with being online. Yes, the internet can be a great boon. Yes, video games can be beneficial. Food and water are a necessity. However, too much of anything can destroy us.

Simple Strategies for Self Improvement!
This Dopamine Detox book is short and to the point. It contains strategies for self improvement by minimizing distractions so you can get more done and reach your goals realistically. The advice on having a morning routine works for me and does allow for the important things to get done first, before you are tempted to waste time on less necessary tasks. The only thing is the author states that to get dopamine you can eat sugar and fat and I wanted some dopamine fast so I ate some Cheetos. Ha! It was at least portion controlled and in a small single serving bag. lol Did I mention I also ate a coconut ice cream bar???? I'm working on not being so interested in dopamine but it does make me happy. I guess what this book is about is finding healthy ways to get the dopamine instead of thinking of it as a quick fix. If I have the choice I'd rather check email than spend time cleaning. So there are choices being made! I often feel anxious like I need a fix of dopamine and then I calm down. Usually an email from one of my friends is enough to make me happy! However I get more done when I take the advice from this book and do things I should first thing in the morning. In fact I've been walking before breakfast because I realize that is one way to make sure it gets done! So the advice is good and I think the methods work but I do realize that it takes some self control to make things a habit! ~The Rebecca Review

Decent book. Quick, easy read.
This book could benefit everyone. It isn’t going to blow your mind with facts, science, case studies, or any form of deep learning or analysis. But, given the topic of the book, I think that’s best. I skipped many paragraphs, as the content was common knowledge (for me, and for most people), but there was certainly helpful information in the Dopamine Detox book. Though short, sweet, simply written, and laden with everyday knowledge, Meurisse does a good job putting into perspective why our lives feel like, and have become an electric chaotic roller coaster. Great read to help those dealing with various mental health hurdles.

Totally worth the price
Since I am a fan of Cal Newport's work, many things from this book align with his preaching about technology usage and recommendations, not just technology, both are quite aligned in the productivity ideas they provide. I don't want to spoil the book, check out this book. You will not regret it, at least I think so. I also read the other books in the series, they provide a lot of good value in a few pages. If you like in-depth longer texts, then I also recommend Cal as I've mentioned before. Thank you, Thibaut, for summarizing a lot of practical value, I appreciate it.

Brillant and Effective
As everyone has said, it is to the point, which in effect means you can start using the stratergies as you read. I found the techniques to be simple an easy. My biggest form of over stimulation for me were: emails, shopping/ browsing online stores, and You Tube. As I gently practised the detox, I experienced so much calm, felt relaxed, totally fulfilled, and my desire to engage in my poor internet habbits reduced by 80% - I hardly desired to engage in them after day 1 of practise. I felt calm and satisfied. As the book suggested, when you reduce over stimulation, you are suddenly motivated to concentrate on the things that matter to you; like goals and dreams that have been so long neglected. This was the case for me, old goals came alive, and I was able to start them back up right away. I was so suprised at how simple and impactful this book was. I hope many many more people find benfit in it, and transfer their focus from excitment and over stimulation, to calm and focused on the activities that gifts them with immense fulfilment.
