how does it attach the monitor ?

These mirrors use velcro to attach.

Is the mirror glass or plexiglass?

It is plastic, but the reflections is as good as a glass mirror.

Can this be installed upside down from my overhead storage?

It would depend on how your underhead storage is set up. Is there a big lip or just flat bottom? Is it on the inside or outside of the overhead storage? My inclination is that yes ot would work since I have some overhead storage and I could maneuver it to work. I'm not sure though how strong the tape would be long term.
