Watched the TV series and now we play it!
I really didn't expect this thing to be as fun as it is. This toy is really well designed. The arena is a great reproduction of the real thing. Sure it's plastic and cardboard - but it's a nice solid quality. The bulletproof windows are a nice and useful touch (pieces do go flying). The robots are quick, agile, and challenging to drive (due to their speed). They are designed to have a few "breakaway pieces". Witch Doctor has 2 pieces that snap off its plow as well as the top cover. Tombstone's top cover and two rear panels come off as battle damage. They each feature a spinning attack weapon - which are not very strong but fun to control. The remote allows you to turn the spinning weapons on and off via a button on the controller. The robots are controlled with similar controls as a RC car. front/back direction and right/left. Nothing pressed = no motion.I bought this for my son's 7th birthday. We watched the TV show and he loves this toy. We spend time battling it out. We switch robots to ensure a balanced play. We came up with the rule that once the top cover flies off, the robot is KO'ed. Tombstone's top cover tends to be a little easier to knock out. Overall, this is a great rendition of the functionality of the stars of the show and the arena. Great playability. This is a really enjoyable fun toy. Great design.

Surprisingly fun and addictive combat game
I bought the BattleBots arena as a gift for my nephew, and we spent hours playing this remote-controlled combat game. The arena is easy to put together and makes a self-contained area for the bots to battle each other. The arena also has "pulverizer" levers in two of the corners, which create a second way to attack the opposing bot. The remote controls work very well in controlling the bots, and the bots are in wheels that move quickly to add to the excitement. The Tombstone bot's wheels only sproradically worked at first, but we added ducktape around the circumference of the wheels to make them large enough to work. We had a lot of fun playing BattleBots. Although i never watched the show, I caught a few video clips of the real-life game and found it fascinating. This is a great gift idea for any age 8+ with a game that is competitive which doesn't become boring after a few tries.

We could have passed
Purchased this as a gift for my nephew. Set up was a little difficult but we managed. The cars seem to be magnetically held together so they fall apart very easily (I'm sure it's due to the nature of the game). We had a lot of difficulty connecting the remotes to the cars and it turned out that the batteries were dead right out of the box. Quite disappointing due to the price of the toy.

Pure fun - excellent robot pairing!
The media could not be loaded. We read lots of reviews before shopping and still opted to get the Tombstone & Witchdoctor arena set. It is lots of fun!For us the batteries work well (they do need to get replaced when you play a lot!), no ‘crack’ in the arena board & a fun robot pairing - meaning both bots can win or lose any time. The arena adds a lot of fun by its physical boundaries & the corner hammers. We had the Biteforce / Blacksmith pair (without the arena) and it was fun, but lobsided as biteforce always won over blacksmith. With the addition of the arena set all 4 bots can now win & lose. It’s expensive for such small RCs, but if you’re into BattleBots this is pure fun for this dad & his 9 year old kid :)

Best. Game. Ever.
The media could not be loaded. Thus is actually fun for the whole family. Way more powerful and sturdy than I ever would have thought. My kiddo loves battle bots and is going to a summer camp where he'll build his own battle bot and this game is definitely getting him more excited for the camp

Remote doesn't work
While the idea certainly is good, the execution is somewhat off. First, one remote doesn't work. It isn't the "remote won't pair" issue, but that the emitter does not function. As this was a Christmas gift, it turns out that Hexbug won't answer emails until after the New Year, let alone get a replacement remote out. And they don't sell single remotes for replacement, that I could find.Additionally, while the remote control bots are fun and interactive, the game play is somewhat a novelty, though I think it will hold attention and get some repeat play. Of course, I can't tell yet, cause, well, I don't have a functioning remote! The bots will probably be fun to run around the floor to knock stuff around, and then play on the arena. Yes, the arena floor is not level and I have had to include the "stage hand" in several fights to free up a stranded bot. We currently just run both bots on one remote and hope for the best.Sadly, my only choice is to send the whole thing back and get a whole new arena set, just to replace one little remote, but Amazon came up with that idea. It seems like Hexbug would have a little bit better quality control on their remotes, as it seems to be a recurring problem. I'd suggest testing the remotes before giving this as a gift, but the packaging makes that difficult if you wish to give this in the box.

Amazing!
We got this for our 7 year old and he loves it!! Great quality and durable parts- This thing has seen so many fights and it's still going strong. The only "complaint" we have is the remote to bot pairing can get a little tricky but not to bad- just takes a few min to figure out.

Tons of fun
They are so much fun with both of them having their strengths and weaknesses. I do worry about the motors getting damaged due to them being powered but unable to move, especially the motor for Tombstones spinner. For example during play Tombstone will get pinned against the wall, and the spinner will be unable to spin. The idea is great and I would recommend the toy to anyone.
