MAC Matte Velvet Teddy Lipstick, plain

Mac Makeup has always been one of my top 3 favorite brands. I've been a huge RuPaul fan since I was a teenager. I used to be one of those that only spent the extra money on the high-end foundations, concealers, and mascaras, thinking that all lipsticks and liners were pretty much the same quality. OMG how I was so wrong! The difference between mac lipsticks and drug store brands cannot be compared on the same scale. I am a professional freelance makeup artist and have pretty much tried everything, and my go-to lipstick brand has always been mac. You can't go wrong. Their colors are highly pigmented and not over drying, and they stay on for a long time.This color can pretty much go with anything. I've used it with a number of lipliners and it blends effortlessly into pretty much any shade I use. This is a good neutral staple to keep in your makeup bag. It has a buildable neutral coverage with a slight shine. Depending on the occasion, I often like to top it with some mac lip glass to add a more luxurious look and shine to my lips, especially for evening events.Looks great on all skin types. Although I find it pops more with a fairer skin complexion. A very versatile color.

This is the perfect lip stick. I really lasts.

I purchased this lipstick because MAC is frequently touted as one of the longest lasting brands. I've worn this one only one time so far, but it does seem to stay on. No complaints there.Quality aside, though, I'm writing this review to comment on the color. It's hard to judge a color when purchasing online, of course, so here's my take on it if anyone (like I was) is unsure if it is the red they are looking for. It is not a deep, dark red like it looks in the picture. It is not a blood red or even a rusty red. To me, it is a shade or two lighter than a classic red, and it has an almost pink/orange undertone that gives it some extra brightness. I want to like it, but it's just a little too glaring on me for daily use. It makes too much of a "look at my lips" statement for that. It would be great for evening, or for an intentionally bold look.If that's what you want, you're in luck. It is a quality lipstick.

This is the only lipstick I ever wear. The color is the perfect shade , and the size lasts me a good while. Worth the price!

The color pictured is incredibly deceiving. I was expecting a deeper red and it's actually a neutral/brown with undertones that are not at all flattering to any skin tone.
