RPWF Replacement for GE RPWF (NOT RPWFE), RWF1063, RWF3600A, WSG-4, DWF-36, R-3600, MPF15350, OPFG3-RF300, BCF77, Refrigerator Water Filter, 2PACK

As it says in the product description, this is not a RPWF-E compliant-filter and it is not a right replacement for most of newer GE refrigerators. Newer capsules have a built-in attached RFID chip. If that chip is missing (as in this filter), after installation, a panel warning light will come up and water and ice will NOT flow. There is no way to reset that per GE manual. Others have commented that one can rig the chip from another compliant filter and attach it to this (and similar) capsules. It works fine but it requires that you are good at cutting through a 1/8" thick plastic on a curved surface without injuring yourself. A better solution (other than buying more expensive GE filters), and if you trust your tap water, is to get a bypass capsule from GE and completely turn off the filtering. Tap water is analyzed in most cities, but the quality of water that comes out of these filters are unknown despite all the certification stickers that are printed on the box.

Better tasting water!!!

After many gallons of water this RPWF filter is still leaching carbon dust into the water, otherwise I would give this product a higher review.I tried to use the GE OEM RPWFE filter and it was difficult to install and leaked. Call GE insulting customer service and they disputed that I was using GE filters despite the pictures. I went for a year with the GE blank and no filtering. Found a YouTube on how to attach the blank’s RFID tag to the fridge and with the RPWF we are back to filtered water.

I bought this for my fridge that has the annoying RFID feature. You must peal off an RFID and mount it to the sensor for this to filter to work if you are in the same situation as me.I liked that in the box it came with little stickers to let me know when I installed the product. The water tastes great, and this product is very inexpensive compared to the RFID ones.

The product may fit and be 1/2 the price, but you will pay for the savings when GE computer locks you out of your ice machine and water dispenser. Took a service call to unlock the computer settings!!

If you, like me, we furious at the cost of the RPWFE know that this will work with your fridge IF and only IF you remove the tag from the old RPWFE and place it on this (line it up on the filter based on the indicated spot on the fridge).Can confirm it works without getting price gouged by GE.

Cheap alternative to buying the ones GE wants us to buy! I, like the others, use the RFID tag off the blank. These are awesome!

This worked fine for my RPWFE style fridge I just peeled off the RFID chip which was fixed to the original filter with a nice label that can be re-used, and I stuck it to the inside of the filter housing in the fridge wall where it will stay forever. The change filter alert will stay up on the fridge but I can ignore that for 6 months and just mark the date with a sharpie on the filter.
