Really Cool Gavel
I bought this to use chairing a meeting. As much a gag as for real use, to be honest, but it does come in handy. It looks and sounds surprisingly nice for what I paid for it. It is, at least to a person without formal gaveling experience, really rather substantial. It does look nice as well. It’s a nice size, the weight is good, for chairing, auctioning, or other such occasions, I find this a very viable choice.

Solid choice for roleplay or messing around
I bought this for work meetings as a bit of a gag, and we all had a good time with it. A few bangs when everyone is talking over each other got everyone's attention nicely. It's made of plastic (except the metal ring) and the build quality is very fair, although you can tell it isn't a nicer (and more expensive) wood product. Size is about what I expected, the base is hefty and the gavel itself is a medium weight. Overall no regrets, but don't buy this if you need a very high-quality wooden gavel.

Great for Classroom/Mock Trial
I teach an American government course, and one of the props that I found myself in constant need of was a gavel. So after researching several on this website, I came across this one which seemed to have all of the required components. It does well as a gavel, it feels hefty in the hand, and the accompanying block looks very official and true to size.This will probably work great for any sorts of mock trials or simulation settings.
