Concepts in Wood MI4836 6 Shelf Double Wide Wood Bookcase, 36 inch Tal (Oak)

Parts of other reviews were the same as my experience with these bookshelves.The good.-The 5 units I ordered arrived 3 days earlier than the earliest projected delivery date. Free non-prime shipping.-The product is sturdy and materials are high quality. Easily twice as nice as what you would buy at the supercenter at a comparable price.-The assembly process was straightforward and fairly simple. Some reviews said the instructions weren't clear, but I found them very easy, step-by-step, and enjoyable to follow. I bought 5 units at once and put them together at the same time in an assembly line style. After a lengthy unpacking and part sorting process, I was able to assemble all 5 units in 1 hour.-I had to call customer support because one unit was missing the middle front trim piece. The guy quickly verified my purchase, got my part number, and assured me a part would be on its way. I got the part within a week and it fit perfectly.-The units line up nicely side by side to form a wall of shelves. They look great to me. My wife loves them.The bad.-One unit WAS missing a piece, but like I said above, that was rectified quickly.-Like many reviews have already stated, these things are FILTHY! The styrofoam used to pack the parts is all over every piece. I thought I might be able to just wipe it off, but no. It is stuck like glue. It only took 1 hour to assemble the units, but it took at least 2 hours to clean them. I probably spent more time cleaning these new bookshelves than I would have spent cleaning a used unit from a flea market. It doesn't help that they are black and every little piece of styrofoam shows up very brightly. Even after scrubbing, some of the pieces simply wouldn't come off. I eventually decided it would be easier to color them with a permanent ink marker. I had to use a marker anyway, because like other reviews also stated, while cleaning them, the black color comes off. Yes, my cleaning water was as black as coffee when I was done. My hands were also black and it wouldn't wash off; it just had to wear off. Then I had to use the permanent ink marker to add some color back to the edges. It would be nice if they'd change their styfofoam type. That would make this a 5 star product.Overall, I'm pleased with these. I did not enjoy having to clean them and you won't either, but they look very nice for a good price in the end.

IF I didn't go through so much trouble putting this together I would have returned it. Directions weren't great, pieces weren't marked very well and the back end was just mis-matched pieces. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you pay to have it assembled

I now own 8 of these shelves in various sizes and I love them. They look really nice together, easy to assemble, and holds a lot of books without bowing.FedEx lost one of my larger shelves and the seller was quick to replace it.

I would actually give this product a 4 1/2 star review. It's well-designed and very well-constructed, nicely finished and conforms to the description on the website. I have only two criticisms: 1. The finish color on the backing panel I received was the same color as the bookcase frame itself - different from the two-tone (natural oak and slightly darker oak) finish displayed on the website. 2. There could be a couple of additional stick-on tabs added to the front trim frame components to assure that the appropriate orientation of the pieces in assembling it all is correct before the final tightening of the hardware. Overall this is a great bookcase and an excellent value.

Only had one minor problem. Facing board was disconnected. It didn't take much to repair and it wasn't difficult to fix so I didn't return it

It's very very dense manufactured wood,, not your normal sort of low density particle board. The backing is also some sort of manufactured wood material. It's not the chincy cardboard like you find on other products. the instructions leave a bit for the imagination. The letters that are indicated for the parts do not appear on the parts except for the backing. It did have a letter stamped on it nothing else did. So I did put it together backwards and upside down but I eventually got it all in the right order. It seems to be very strong.

I’m pretty happy with this for the price. It was relatively easy to put together. I suggest a power drill not a screwdriver. It’s sturdy and looks like real wood; but it is composite, to be clear. Easy to get splinters unloading the box. I like the tiger maple look to it. The aprons are a nice finishing piece to it.

Idk, if it was my batch but they didn’t exactly have the stickers like they had on the manual. So, I think a couple pieces were upside down. I also had to use a power drill for a couple of pieces, and pieces for the top screw thingy... it didn’t fit? Idk.
