One of the best themed dungeon crawls out there
In various places on the web you get people saying this game has a few missions that are unbalanced towards the marines. I don't know that I can agree to that since in my group, every mission has been played several times and sometimes the marines win, and sometimes the invader wins. Each mission does take a good amount of time to play. My group probably averages around 2 hours per mission depending how focused everyone is but that doesn't stop this game from being a staple on game night. The figures in this game have some of the best detail that I've seen throughout miniature games. They are also quite durable and have stood up to countless play sessions. My cards on the other hand have warn a bit, but not to the point where you can tell which card is about to come up. They just don't have that slick feel of new cards anymore. This game is built in such a way that when you get through the provided 12 missions in the operations guide, you can pretty easily come up with your own missions to play through. There is a ton of stuff in this game and each time its brought out there is enjoyment among the players. The first couple of play-throughs we needed to reference the rule book since there is a lot of rules but even with the pages of rules, the game play itself is quite easy. Mastering the correct strategy is where this game gets a bit challenging.

Underrated Game
Doom is a highly underrated and addicting board game. There are many one versus all board games but this one stands as one of the best IMO. The game is fast paced, complex and customizable. My friends and I have had hours of back and forth fun in Doom.As I mentioned before this game is complex AT FIRST. I found it helpful to watch Board Game Replay’s Doom play through on YouTube. The friendly people in the Doom forum on Board Game Geek have also been helpful. Here’s everything the game comes with:- 12 Very replayable missions that can be done in 1-6 mission operations, custom operations, or single missions.- 6 Different starting weapons (2 of each), 3 types of grenades (2 of each), and 5 powerful weapon pickups.- 3 Manuals (Learn To Play, Rules Reference, and Operation Guide)- 37 Detailed plastic figures (4 marines, 33 demons).- 6 Dice (4 Red, 2 Black)- 196 Various Cards- 179 Various Tokens- 24 Map Tiles (Double-Sided)- 8 Doors With StandsI have read other people complain about the marines being OP. This really depends on your gaming group because I beat down my two friends as the Invader player more often than not. Other groups I have heard the balance being close to even. I would recommend using all 4 marines for the BEST balance possible. If your group favors one team then consider adding/subtracting the number of frag tokens that the Invader needs to win the game. Also an optional alternative variant that our group uses is called the Doom: Hurt Me Plenty Edition. It’s the 2nd result in Google on the website Board Game Geek. The file is in PDF format. This variant slightly shifts the balance towards the Invader player.

Fun and easy to learn
I gave this as a birthday gift to a friend who I play the dark souls board game with so with that, we picked this game up on first play through and have all taken turns playing as the demons since. This a fantastic representation of the doom video game and has a good power balance. We have gotten our setup time down to 15 minutes making this one of the faster board games we play and average play time with 4 players is 2h30m and everyone has taken a turn controlling multiple pinkies and at least a baron so can confirm, it’s fun. Hoping for an expansion for this game someday. Almost forgot: miniature quality is mind blowing for the price

Best thing ever.
This stuff is the best. It's detailed, strategic, replay ability is nuts. the number of figures is rare for board games. The only thing that I semi don't like is that it doesn't have hell knights.

A Very Fun Dungeon Crawler with a Great Theme!
Doom The Board Game from Fantasy Flight Games is a dungeon crawl adventure based upon the hit video game series. One to four players take on the roles of souped-up, heavily armed marines, while one player takes on the role of the invader, the evil force which summons demons and attempts to wreak all sorts of havoc. The game board is modular, and once players select a scenario from the operations book they set up the board. The marine players each have different weapons, and are given a deck of weapon cards that match them, as well as a few other basic cards to form their action deck. The invader player also has a deck of event cards which he uses on his turn. Each marine gets an initiative card corresponding to his character, while the invader gets initiative cards equal to the number of demons he has in play. All the cards are shuffled together and the and at the beginning of a round the invader player draws the fist initiative card, which tells him who takes a turn. If he draws an invader card, he can choose which demon group to activate, while the marine's specific initiative card decides which marine goes. On his turn, the marine player can play an action card from his hand- only one main action, but any number of bonus actions, as denoted by symbols on the cards. With that he can move and attack the demons. On his turn the demon player can play event cards to activate his demons for attack or movement. Combat is simple dice rolling, with easy to use line of sight rules. If a marine or demon is partially obstructed, he has cover, and may draw cards from his action/event deck and check symbols that cancel out hits. Once a marine or demon has hit points equal to its health, it is eliminated from the game. The invader can summon more demons, however, and marine players can respawn in the game with reduced health. Whenever enemies are eliminated the attack player gets fragg tokens. For most scenarios, a number of fragg tokens are the victory condition. There is a lot more going on in Doom The Board Game- the above is just a bare bones overview of the rules. First of all the production is fantastic, which is something we have come to expect from Fantasy Flight Games. The models look amazing, the artwork is really well done, and all of the various cards and tokens really give this game a great toy box feeling. The modular board is very similar to the system used in Descent and, more recently, Star Wars Imperial Assault. I must confess I'm not a huge fan of these kinds of modular boards, as there is no great way to store them that makes sections easy to find, and consequently players are often hunting for the right puzzle piece for quite a while during setup. This is a minor complaint, but it is something to consider. Game play itself is pretty fast and intense, and the game as a whole is generally easy to learn and play. The combat system is fairly simple, but it didn't need to be something overly complicated. Where game play shines is in the initiative deck, which means players do not know who is going when, which can lead to some pretty interesting and difficult choices in the game, and more than a little suspense. My biggest complaint with this game, is not really with this game. It's just that there are so many similar dungeon crawler type games out that I don't know that this one really stands out. It's a good, solid game that is a lot of fun, but next Conan, Imperial Assault, Level 7: Omega Protocol, and others, I just don't know how this will hold up in the long term. Still, if you were a fan of the video games, there is no doubt you will get a kick out of this game translation's wonderful production, enjoyable game play, and eerie theme. The Discriminating Gamer
