Do you think these would work to protect my thumb from getting so torn up when fishing when sticking my thumb in fish mouths to remove hooks?

They may work but just want to point out these finger cots cover only the finger/thumb only… I would be worried it might slide off… try a pair of fishing gloves… it will keep you safe and slime-free.

The product pictures say these are not breathable and easy to be cut? That sounds...undesirable.

Actually it says, "The rubber material," not breathable and easy to be cut. I'm sure it's referencing the rubber/latex ones, not these.

Are these good for heat gun protection ?

I couldn't say on heat I got them to pre open med packages. They didn't work for that.
