Great for Adult Children of Alcoholics
Love this. It was recommended to me by someone from ACA. I am learning a lot about myself using this workbook. I love drawing and creating exercises. It keeps my mind open to new ways of connecting with my inner child, inner teenage, and inner parent.

Life Changing & Healing
This book is life changing. There are meetings listed on the ACA website that focus on working through it as a group, also very healing.

a gem of a book. there is collective wisdom in every page
I love this book. I've gained so much by working it with Fellow Travelers in a Loving Parent Guidebook study group. Thank you for your 12th service in putting this together ❤️

Eye Opening For a Very Practical Way to Understand How to Re-Parent Yourself
This book has been extremely helpful in understanding what "re-parenting yourself" means and how you can, when otherwise you can feel totally at a loss for how the heck anyone can do that given that those that need it are the ones that didn't get it from their parents. I would think, "How the heck am I supposed to re-parent myself when I was never shown how good parenting looks like? When I am so often overwhelmed with the feelings of grief, sadness, or coping to manage what feels unmanageable. But it does an outstanding job of helping you ways to relate with yourself and all the parts of you that have had all the experiences throughout your life. How to approach it all, what the process looks like, and how to find the light when you feel blind and disoriented by how to navigate or make sense of what you're experiencing.I would recommend this to anyone that is finding themselves in need of support for their mental health, addictions, really anyone that is having any kind of trouble being resilient or at a loss for how to self-care the way you actually need but can't seem to figure out or get to.

Are You Ready for Deep Therapy?
This is therapy, and if done with gentleness and proper pacing, can help heal Laundry List traits and bring you into an existence of serenity. This book somewhat strays away from the traditional Steps of the ACA Fellowship. As a therapist, I see this workbook as a therapist's manual. It takes concepts from known theory, such as Internal Family Systems Theory, DBT, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and rebrands them with ACA terminology. I have started using this workbook with my clients.Despite pictures to color, this is not a "fun" workbook, and can take you to a deep and dark place quickly. For this reason, I suggest being at a stable place in your recovery before attempting the work (have your depression and anxiety managed and present no suicidal ideation). Also, be grounded with a therapist, sponsor, and/or home group. My suggestions for working the LPG include:- Completing the 12 Steps (or at least Steps 1-3) before starting the LPG- Creating a structured plan for time spent working the manual (as well as structured positive activities to balance the pain that may arise)- Be stable and have the support of a therapist, sponsor, and/or home group.- Start at Chapter 10 (with Appendix D) and Chapter 11 (and review them once you complete Chapter 9)

Recommended by my therapist
It’s great for sorting out the facts and learning how you have responded to your parents in childhood and teens. Helpful for trauma based therapy. It’s a lot of work, use a separate notebook.

life changing
i am still working through this book. having read lots of of spiritual and self help books, this book stands out in a very positive way. because it has been crafted and honed by many people and the group experience of the ACA fellowship, you can really trust the authenticity and heartfelt trueness of the message. I am still working on developing my relationship with my inner family.Another book that I am currently reading is called Home Tonight: Further reflections on the parable of the prodigal son by Henri Nouwen which talks about how within us we can see ourselves both as the son and as the father. Another great supplementary book on working with one's inner family. And with Higher Power.
