Top 300 Pocket Reference Guide (2021 Edition)
S**)
Direct and very helpful pocket guide on ALL the most common & some not that common Rx’s!
I love that it includes nearly every single medication that I take, and I have a terriblyRare but severe digestive syndrome (short bowel syndrome (short gut)- Intestinal Failure - Adult type - also known as SBS-IF) - from Small bowel ischemia (low to no blood flow) & surgical removal of entire colon, entire ileum, ileocecal valve, and partial removal of jejunum as well, obviously no appendix, etc.All of these surgeries were emergency so planning no warning no preparation just what the Heck is that I’m waking up to???So, i thought some of my laundry list length & quantity of medications I require in order to sustain my life (for not much longer) were pretty uncommon, such as Lomotil, Etc., but I have found a lot of them inside of this book already! It’s a great small pocket (lab coat or scrubs pocket size Guide I was previously using for studying for the National CPhT rx tech exam (PTCE) prior to becoming terminal and requiring hospice services. It outlines each Rx drug in same format per 1 side page- (not in this exact order but, name, mechanism of action, indication, pharmacology, similar medications with different adverse / side effects, etc, and it mentions use pertaining to Nurses (any level I suppose but probably very helpful for NP prescribing purposes and RN checking for contradictions, etc, familiarity with a patients Rx that they’d never seen before or haven’t seen in some time.It contains useful warnings per medication: for example- do not prescribe if patient has history of Acute Liver Failure, etc… or use with benzodiazepines and or opioids could increase risk of respiratory failure, etc. and all available forms of the medication such as: pill, tablet, dissolving sublingual tablet, oral solution, tincture, transdermal patch, IR, ER, capsules (that can or cannot be broken open), etc.Definitely not meant to replace any patients physician! Nothing is- and really not sure why everyone is always looking for an excuse NOT to get seen by a doctor even if using federal assistance or government aid to use a no cost medical professional, there is no shame in seeking out and trying to maintain proper health throughout life.Health (and Mental Health!) comes FIRST, not a job, and somehow yes definitely not your career- Your health is your wealth” so I’d even advise this to patients who want to educate BUT not self diagnose themselves on their own medications they have been prescribed or their own medical conditions to find out why a medication they take for that works and how - the interesting fun part!Only wish there was a 3000 drug version!(LAST PIC is for REFERENCE size ONLY!)The red and black Short Bowel Syndrome Practical Approach to Managament paperback first edition 2021 book is my own purchase separately (actually from Amazon too! But prior to this pocket guide!) and would really recommend it to ANYONE who’s suffering from Short Bowel/Short Gut as well or has a family member/knows someone who does!- someone who wish they took the advice that health is #1 many years ago- consequently now is terminally ill.

Everyone who works with drugs should get a copy of this book!
Bought in November 2021.I've read other reviews about the pages falling out and all I can think is that those people must have really abused their books. I've used this book almost daily for a couple of months and the pages are fine. I don't get crazy and bend it back on itself, just quickly look something up and put it back in my pocket.Easy to understand and has been a great aid for me in learning drugs, brand names and what they do.Everyone who works with or needs help learning drugs should get a copy of this book.
