Protects wounds nicely
I needed this foam dressing after I had surgery which had to be a bit deeper than average, and for which the doctor required granular healing rather than surgical stitches. This type of wound requires drainage fluids to be wicked away from the wound and also prevent leakage. This bandage has been handling this task easily, plus has an easy-removing border that's gentle on my skin, yet clings like a tenacious rock-climber. Never once in almost two months has even a corner of one peeled loose, including in the shower, which is the point in my day when my doctor advised removing the bandage for wound cleansing as the steam/moisture makes it even easier. The bullet points on the outside of the box describing product benefits/storage/warning against not using for 3rd degree burns are clear and well-written. Additionally, both graphics and instructions in numbered steps make application easy for most, if not all. This particular bandage MAY be left on longer than a day ONLY if certain conditions are met concerning drainage amounts, so you'd want to contact your doctor for approval if you think you may be eligible.

Awesome for incisions
I was first given these in the hospital after a recent hip arthroscopy. I have extremely sensitive and fragile skin that gets torn from regular bandages, steri strips, and tape. I have been wearing these for a month with zero irritation and they are very absorbent, as well as provides cushioning on top of the sutures. I wish I had known about these for my prior surgeries, as they would have saved a lot of grief! These were also recommended by my wound care nurse friend, as they use them in LTC for pressure wounds and incisions. The optifoam ones are much better than the less expensive knockoffs, which the edges tend to roll on or they are very goopy/leave residue. Worth it to buy the name brand.

Helps save the skin!
Extremely expensive! However, if you have an open wound that needs to heal from the inside out slowly and frequent bandage changing…these are a God send. Easier on the skin. Only 10 in the box for $30 something…pricy but as I said worth it if it helps family heal better and with less dressing change pains.

Silicone is where it's at!
I couldn't begin to count the number of boxes of these bandages that we've ordered. Our daughter has a variety of health issues, several involving her skin. She is allergic to latex and adhesives, but she can tolerate silicone. They hold well, even on soft tissue and come off without damaging her skin. If you cover them with Tegaderm, they will hold up to a shower. In spite of their high cost, we will continue to use these and are thankful that they are available.

Great for sensitive skin.
My skin has become very sensitive and tape and bandaids irritate and sometimes tear my skin. These do neither of those things. And unlike bandaids and tape, you can pick up the edge of it to check underneath and it will “stick” back on. I tried a so-called silicone bandaid which seemed no better than a regular one. They are expensive, which is the one drawback, but to me they are worth it.
